I read a post from a.g.c newsgroup long time ago that allegedly Kirk Douglas raped and killed a young starlet and studio covered it up for him.

I can't like someone knowing shit like that about them. And he got away with it. When people look at him now, they see a frail, stroke-ridden old man in his 90s.

Back OT - as far as Jean Harlow goes, other than her unfortunate marriage to Paul Bern, she was not shady at all. It was mainly her mother and that no-good freeloading stepfather of hers, who spent most of her money when he wasn't investing it is something useless.

Erroll Flynn was a Nazi sympathizer to the extreme, apparently. I remember reading about a mother who literallly gave her 12 or 14 year old daughter to a producer for the night in the hopes he would make her a star. He raped the girl and then made her a star. I'm wondering if that wasn't Jean Harlow.

I googled a little and the actress whose death is (allegedly) linked to Kirk Douglas was Jean Spangler.

This has been a great read. I now have some ideas of books to get for some summer reading. It weird but in the summer I can't bring myself to read anything other than trashy novels and books like those mentioned here.

lol well to each their own, i personally enjoy her, she has some of the most beautiful glamour shots, but its like today Sweetie w/ other "ugly" celebs being thrown in our face all the time to the point where we eventually find them attractive

Jean was not a classic beauty, but she was very photogenic. Her nose was too big, she had deep-set, almost beady eyes and a short chin with a big-ol mannish cleft in it. Not to mention a serious man-brow. But she had creamy skin and was very curvaceous.
