To a certain point I do agree. But I honestly think she got to a point where she was like a small child with no degree of realization of what/how much she was taking. She was completely manipulated and controlled when she was that far along (see video above). I have no doubt that HKS wanted her incapacitated because he had complete control over her that way, and as her lawyer he could have her sign anything he wanted as well. He saw big money. I also think he was the one who gave Daniel the fatal dose of drugs. It was clear as day to me that she was being manipulated into getting married that soon after her son's death - she was completely out of it the last months of her life, I don't think she knew up from down. I wouldn't be surprised if he was giving her larger doses secretly than what she knew of as well. Like her or not (I didn't), she was a grieving mother at that time who was taken advantage of. I think she was clinically depressed and HKS kept shoving pills down her throat in a tactical move.

I agree, in a way. ANS will always be to me that greedy, manipulative woman that lied on the stand about her late husband's wishes. I think Marshall knew that she was a gold-digger, his housekeeper knew she was sleeping with her ex in Marshall's own house, and playing games with his head (using a tape recorder and showing him her breasts to get him to say what she wanted him to say). She was white trash from poor roots that was eager to hit the big time. I don't believe for an instant that he promised her that money over that of his own family. But she saw that big ol' chunk of change and was willing to scrap anyone who fought for it. Truth in fact, as a person she disgusted me. But even I don't think she deserved the last few months of her life.

You'll always find exceptions to the rule. I've never once run in to a physician who actually wanted to get his or her patients hooked on drugs.

oh dont get us wrong, i dont think there's one person who thinks of anna as some saintly woman/child bla bla bla, but i do feel terrible for her son and feel for her losing him and i partially blame Howard and always will. i mean wtf?! he was there when both of them died of drug overdoses. the only constant in both those cases was him!

Some people take drugs for pain and never realize when they become addicted nor do they even know they are addicted.
People rely to much on doctors and doctors make mistakes - try to take a doctor to court for giving some one the wrong drug and watch the medical field back him/her.

I side with the victim in most cases. Heath Ledger couldn't sleep, when you are sleep deprived you can't think. He took a sleeping drug with another drug and it killed him, I doubt that the man wanted to die.

Basically what I mean is, that no one ever takes responsibility for THEMSELVES. And I get that people who are addicted aren't exactly in the right capacity to possibly make a sane/rational decision, but yet, at some point, she had to have known what she was doing was wrong. She could have said NO---don't you think?? I don't think she deserved to die---no way. Nor did Heath Ledger. And having multiple doctors prescribing multiple meds is a recipe for disaster, anyway you look at it. Anna and Heath were both more than likely a victim of too many meds, too many doctors. I doubt either of them wanted to die also....
But no one held a gun to her head. At some point, you have to ask where HER responsibility was. And she's not here obviously, so the others left will be held accountable, rightfully so. I'm not saying they don't deserve to be arrested or held accountable--they do!! She deserved better! But she also made her own bed so to speak....
Just my opinion.

Edit: and you are right Alice---HKS was around when both died. Something is clearly up. I agree.

All I keep thinking is how tickled Howard must be at seeing the headlines refer to him as Ana's "boyfriend". Really, he was just a hanger on that lusted after her while she went with other guys.

I'm sure if Anna didn't have these guys supplying her with drugs, she would have gotten them another way. Addicts always find ways to get their hands on drugs. I also thought she was abusing the methadone, not using it to get clean...

Unless it comes out that Howard was engaged in some Sam Lufti-style grounding up the pills and putting it in her food. Which I totally wouldn't put past him.

On the bright side, it looks like Howard was just charged with 3 felonies, and CA is the Three-Strikes state. He could be going to prison for a long, long time if he's convicted.

Can anyone here address at what point those charges cross over into murder / manslaughter? I'm just interested to know if that could be one part of the case that might come out.
