I hope this doesn't take over the media again. Yes it's sad when anyone dies, especially when she had a new baby. However she was a low grade celebrity and I never understood why her death got so much coverage.
Because she was a hot (well....more or less) white, blond chick with giant tits.

If I remember correctly, many of the perscription drugs found after her death were in Howard's name. He was getting scripts in his name for her. That is fraud.

ITA. A great friend of mine ended up addicted to oxy after suffering from severe nerve damage. Her Dr. didn't give a shit that she was addicted, just kept handing the shit out. She spoke with him MANY times about getting off the oxy and trying something else because she knew she was an addict. Dr. wouldn't do it. She lost EVERYTHING while taking this prescribed med and I haven't heard from her in 2 years. She just went off the deep end and cut me out of her life. I would like to thank her Dr., personally, with a hot pitchfork up his ass.

I didn't see this one coming. Maybe justice will be served.

I guess that theory would also explain why Pam Anderson throwing her mis shapen boobies out for the world to see on the runway also gets more press than it deserves. Point taken.

But I still think it's too much. (shrugs)

He sounds like a lazy SOB. There are other ways to manage pain and too bad your friend didn't see a pain specialist. Physical addiction to oxycontin happens VERY quickly.

Howard K. Stern charged with supplying drugs to Anna Nicole Smith! | The Dish Rag | Los Angeles Times

more from the LA Times

Howard K. Stern charged with supplying drugs to Anna Nicole Smith!
The Anna Nicole Smith case has just blown wide open!

And her former boyfriend and attorney, Howard K. Stern, is reportedly turning himself in tonight, TMZ reports.

Stern is being arrested and charged, along with two doctors -- Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich -- for allegedly conspiring to fuel Smith with prescription drugs.

The three are being charged with a total of eight felonies.

According to the L.A. County district attorney, these three defendants allegedly conspired to "repeatedly and excessively" furnish controlled substances to the former Playboy Playmate between July 2004 and January 2007.

Stern has always denied doing anything illegal regarding drugs and Anna Nicole.

But that's not what Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown's offices thinks.

"These individuals repeatedly and excessively furnished thousands of prescription pills to Anna Nicole Smith, often for no legitimate medical purpose," Brown said in a statement. "There is ample evidence that Dr. Eroshevich and Dr. Kapoor violated their ethical obligations as physicians, while Mr. Stern funneled highly addictive drugs to Ms. Smith."

According to Brown's statement, the three allegedly provided Smith with pills, "including opiates, benzodiazepines, and other controlled and non-controlled substances."

Brown accused the doctors of falsifying prescriptions and Stern of "obtaining, delivering and administering these prescription drugs."

Brown will discuss the charges Friday at 10 a.m. at the Office of the Attorney General on South Spring Street in L.A.

If this turns out to be true, the interesting part will be finding out why they did it.

Always follow the money, right?

Wonder if Britney Spears' former "manager," Sam Lutfi, was being mentored by Stern?
Can they work on some kind of charges for Octomom's doc??

Doctors should be held accountable if they are negligent in giving out scripts. ITA. However, you'd be shocked at the number of peoplep who doctor shop, "lose" their meds, have them stolen, dropped down a sink, run over by a car and eaten by their dogs. Patients are responsible for their own behavior.

Now if a patient shows a clear trail of abuse, it is the doctor's responsiblity to stop giving scripts. Unfortunately, it's incredibly easy for patients to start all over with a new MD who doesn't know their background. Most addicts don't ask their physicians to get them off drugs. They ones who are serious check themselves in to rehab. The rest doctor shop.

no
once you are addicted it isn't that easy. From what I remember she was taking methadone to get her off the oxycontin.
Some people take drugs for pain and never realize when they become addicted nor do they even know they are addicted.
People rely to much on doctors and doctors make mistakes - try to take a doctor to court for giving some one the wrong drug and watch the medical field back him/her.

I side with the victim in most cases. Heath Ledger couldn't sleep, when you are sleep deprived you can't think. He took a sleeping drug with another drug and it killed him, I doubt that the man wanted to die.

I've heard that Elvis used to have his own dentist on staff down at Graceland, to prescribe him what ever he wanted on demand.
