Such sad news to wake up to today.
I rode in an elevator with her once. Loved her movies when I was young.
I once read a story about Shirley Temple (20 at the time) being cast in a John Ford movie, and Ford wasn't wild about her being cast. So, he had her film a scene where a bunch of cattle are stampeding just inches in front of her -- to freak her out. Apparently, she did it very professionally and was unfazed and Ford changed his mind about her.
Rip
I loved watching her movies as a kid with my Mom and Dad. I assumed she was in her late 90's. Rip....she was such a vibrant child,....she just drew you in.
Noooooooooo! Oh gwad I absolutely LOVE her! Even drummed into my two teen boys how awesome she is by making them watch any of her movies we come across.
This sucks! Two years ago, Whitney Houston died on this day as well. Her and Shirley were the first thing in the morning I heard about. What a way to start my bday.![]()
She was the most adorable little child, soooooo darn cute. R.I.P. Shirley (Shirley MacLaine was named after her!)

RIP Mizz. Shirley
Not really a fan of her movies, but you have to give her her due; she entertained millions when things were looking pretty bleak.
She also went on to a fine career as a diplomat, though she had to endure years of people offering her Shirley Temple cocktails.
As a child, an actress and human being, she showed class and dignity all the way. RIP Shirley Temple Black.
She was too goddamn adorable and grew into quite a woman.

I truly admired and loved this woman. There has never been any child actor that has come close to her many talents. Darling overload Bright Eyes. I actually cried and I haven't done that for a celebrity since Lucille Ball died.

I thought I'd leave this trailer for "The Shirley Temple Collection" here. It features highlights from some of her most memorable movies and I used to enjoy the trailer for this as much as I enjoyed the actual movies. Love the images of so many children and multiple generations enjoying together. I had this growing up and used to watch her movies all the time.
RIP. She was quite a beautiful woman as she aged, I don't know that I have ever seen pictures of her as an adult. The Little Princess was a favorite movie of mine as a child.
