Luckily they only have to get divorced once.

It might depend where you live. Here, for example, the civil wedding is the "real one". Where you basically just sign papers. Most people I know will have maybe their close family and closest friends with them and then go out having a nice dinner, but that's it. Because it's in an office, most of the time you'll get a really weird time as well, for example on a Thursday at 2 pm. So everyone that wants to be present needs to take a day off. That's why most couples have two "weddings". We did the same - we had the civil wedding on a Friday afternoon and went with a couple of friends an family members to a taqueria nearby. Our wedding party was over a month later, big thing with DJ and catering and whatnot.

Are we sure she’s not already pregnant?

Her dress right away made me think of Gisele Bunchden’s 2005 Oscar Dress but with sleeves.

Could be any number of reasons.
Some friends did two weddings because religion was important to both of them. The Muslim wedding was just the two families while the Catholic wedding was the giant party thing with all the friends as well.
As Canadian as possible under the circumstances

In the case of “celebrities” it makes sense that they have a private function and a “public” one. But that said my sister was going to have two, one in each country but she was thwarted because in France you have to declare that you’re not married to anyone else (current spouse included at that time) so she had to make-do with a fancy reception at Versailles.

My legal civil wedding was odd. It was in Aruba so the civil ceremony was in Dutch. We were trying to not laugh throughout the hour long process. Once papers were signed, we had a later wedding on the beach.

    Mmmm. Food was good though.

I think where church & state don’t meet its more common to have two weddings (legal & religious); or where the religious wedding is not legally recognised (like Mick Jagger & the Jenner boy).
