Go stand in the corner with clubber and her beiber crush!

I only really like one Paul solo song- Maybe I'm amazed......John's and George's solo output puts Paul's to shame.

Even though I'm a bigger fan of Harrison than McCartney, none of the Beatles had even close to the success after the band breakup than McCartney did.

However, I think if Lennon hadn't teamed up with someone who sang like a bulldozer running over a daycare center, he could have eclipsed McCartney.

Are you kidding? Imagine? I think the success of that song alone eclipses macca's entire post Beatles output.

And success doesn't mean quality, as any quick glance at the pop album sales tells us

Btw-Imagine was produced by Phil Spector, who is crazier than a shithouse rat but is partly responsible for some of the best pop music in history.

Lennon's post-Beatles period is pretty unfortunate. I think he spent about a year in intensive therapy to try to finally deal with his messed up childhood. And then relapsed a couple of times. And released one or two really ill-advised albums. It was almost like the period that Ali was banned from boxing in that it was a person in their career prime who wasn't spending very much of it doing what they do best.

I do like "Imagine" and think it is a more meaningful song than any of the Wings songs I mentioned. I also loved "Happy Christmas (War is Over)". Probably my favorite Christmas song.

I'd still rather listen to yoko wail than Wings the only thing worse is the guns and roses wings cover

I love Lennon's solo stuff- instant karma, nobody told me, stand by me, be bop a lula, working class hero, jealous guy, out of the blue. Of course, its just taste which is subjective, but to me McCartney's stuff doesn't come close.

Imagine is a shit song. Droning and with a dumbass message. John had much better solo songs than Imagine, unfortunately most of the ten years of his solo career was either bogged down by political peacenick messaging or lost to drugs and booze.

Paul's Ram and George's All Things Must Pass are the two best Beatles solo albums though George was in no way a "sweet little thing."

The entire Get Back/Let it Be sessions are available on bootleg and they're a fascinating (if mega-long) listen that debunks a lot of Beatles myths. For one thing, George walked out not because of Paul, but directly after an argument with John. John is a strung out asshole throughout, and though you can hear Paul working with George on his (George's) songs and working his ass off on them (see: Paul's awesome bass and piano on While My Guitar Gently Weeps) John flat out refused to show up to sessions most of the time they were working on George's songs. When he did, he would constantly act like a dick and sideline things by not taking stuff seriously.

After George walked out, John was totally unplussed and you can hear him talk like, "So what?" and suggest they hire Eric Clapton to replace George, which Paul and Ringo weren't having. John wanted to be the leader and be catered to but then he wouldn't put in any of the work because he was too strung out on drugs and obsessed with Yoko. As a teen, I was obsessed with John Lennon but as I grow older I've increasingly lost my love for him.

Anyway, I'll believe in what I've heard from people who know/knew some of the players in the drama. John was an ass, Paul was and is an ass, but most of them actually like Yoko, so there's that......

So Heather uses the word irrelevant to describe Paul but, obviously, doesn't think that about his money. It'so too bad Paul got involved with her, he was just ripe for the plucking and still mourning Linda's death. He was my favorite as a kid
-saw them live in San Francisco in '64 when I was 13, good times-but as the years passed I decided that Ringo was the least crazy and moody and George would be the one I'd like to have sat down with and discussed life. John seemed weird from the start, and I had no patience with the Yoko and hippie years.

I love "Jet" mostly because my local rugby league team the Newtown Jets has a dedicated group of fans (mostly ageing musicians) who sit on the hill at Henson Park with a guitar and every time the team scores they break out into a chorus of "JET! Woo-oo-oo-OO-oo-oo-OO-oo-oo JET!".

Don't like Imagine but I love Instant Karma. And Ringo's "Photograph" trumps them all.
