Something to the effect of the judge had mind made up on the sentence. Rotunno essentially said that the public doesnít know what happened she Weinstein had his meetings. That New York justice was not applied fairly. Iíll try to find the video.

Yes, the sentence is extraordinarily harsh to those dinosaurs who were more comfortable with three months for a young rapist because otherwise it could negatively affect his life.

This slag enrages me, and while I won't go so far as to wish for her to be raped, I must admit I'd enjoy watching her get a bit of a scare.

Yes, I know that makes me a horrible, vengeful bitch. I'll bear up under the strain.

Thumbs up Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison

10:12 AM PT -- Weinstein left the courthouse in a wheelchair, and NYPD officers loaded him into the transport bus returning him to Rikers Island. He'll remain there for now, until he's transferred to an upstate NY prison.

Harvey Weinstein will likely to die in prison -- he just got sentenced to 23 years in his NY state criminal case.
The 67-year-old disgraced movie mogul faced the judge Wednesday at his sentencing, and even spoke briefly. Several of his accusers, including the women who testified against him, were in the court as well.

Model Tarale Wulff was there ... so was Annabella Sciorra, Lauren Young and Jessica Mann, just to name a few.
Before the sentence was announced, Weinstein directly addressed his accusers in court, saying, "I have great remorse for all of you. I have great remorse for all women."

And yet ... Weinstein also said he was "totally confused" by the charges against him. He added, "I think men are confused about all of this ... this feeling of thousands of men and women who are losing due process, I'm worried about this country. This is not the right atmosphere in the United States of America."

He also said, "If I had to do a lot of things over I would care less about movies and more about my children and my family." He admitted he'd been unfaithful to both of his ex-wives and apologized to them.

He wrapped up his statement with, "I really feel remorse for this situation. I feel it deeply in my heart."

After court, Weinstein's accusers walked out -- some of them arm-in-arm -- to applause and chants of "Justice!"
As we reported, Weinstein's lawyers begged for mercy earlier this week, asking the judge to sentence him to 5 years because -- among other things -- he has no prior criminal record, and his life and career had already been destroyed.
His legal team also pointed to huge charitable contributions, including millions for 9/11 firefighters and police officers.

    It didn't work.

Weinstein was facing a maximum prison sentence of 29 years after being convicted by a jury last month of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. Prosecutors were pushing for a harsh sentence, claiming Weinstein had shown a total lack of remorse. He seemed to be responding to that with his statement in court.

Of course, he is, by all accounts, in very poor health ... so, Weinstein could be spending much -- if not all -- of his remaining years behind bars.

As for where Weinstein will do his time -- he'll most likely be shipped to a maximum-security prison in upstate New York. Weinstein has been staying in an infirmary unit at Rikers Island while awaiting sentencing.

I'm reading as many negative reactions to this online as I am positive. People are still spewing out crap like:

"bitter second rate actresses who didn't get the career they wanted" (never mind that several of his victims weren't actresses).

"They knew what they were doing when they went to his hotel room" (Some like HW wouldn't have just a room, it would have been a suite and from what I understand doing normal business in hotel suites away from gossips and prying eyes is normal in the industry).

"These women should be brought up on charges for prostitution. They sold themselves to him because they were career/fame hungry" (why not make sure and burn them at the stake after a public stoning too?)

"They could have said no" (plenty did and it didn't stop him).

So while this is a great day and we're right to be happy that this POS has got a hefty sentence, we have to remember that this is one battle won and the war is still raging. Harvey has to be the start, not the token offered up in the hope we'll go back to things being swept under the rug.

This thing with compelling someone (subordinate to you, or looking for a job opportunity) to meet you in a hotel room is a high-risk situation that is really ripe for abuse. And we can see Weinstein took maximum advantage.

My company installs a love of audio visual systems, and one of the room types you run into frequently are "huddle rooms". They are rooms that only fit 3 or for people, a monitor, maybe some video teleconferencing equipment, and table and chairs. AND NO FREAKING BED. In addition, a lot of huddle rooms have glass walls so that not only do you know whether they are occupied or not, but you also have greatly reduced opportunity for covert hanky panky. This is where people should be meeting. Hotels need to install more of them. Hotels typically have gigantic meeting rooms because companies like to lease them for conferences and all-hands meetings. But every hotel that's not a Red Roof Inn should have at least 4 or 5 of them. They require very little maintenance. Below is an example:

The prosecutors said he had no remorse, so he's apparently trying to refute that. But he still doesn't get it, and likely never will. He's apologizing to his ex-wives for being unfaithful, as if RAPING other women during his marriages was just cheating. I don't think he understands the meaning of remorse.
