    really?

i swam naked until i was a few years old and then i only wore bathing suit bottoms, i don't think i had a bathing suit that covered my chest until i was maybe 8 or 9, except for swimming lessons at the pool.
    .
Me too. Bikinis on very young girls are ridiculous anyway.

Personally, I find the padded underwire bras in the little girls department at Nordstrom more disturbing than a bikini on a toddler.

I have a 7 year old daughter who wears bikinis and I am the one who buys them for her. I think they are cute. And I'm certainly not 'sexualizing' her by allowing her to wear one.

SIL always puts her girl in a tankini. She won't let her daughter wear a little bikini, but she likes the tankini because of the two piece easy on/easy off factor and the fact that it protects more skin from sunburn.

I'm not big on "string" bikinis on little girls. I am the main shopper in my home when it comes to clothing for my now 4 year old niece... and I've bought her little bikinis since she was around 2. There's nothing sexualized about it. We do it because it's convenient when she needs to go pee and because she likes it. It's typically a Barbie or Disney Princess type bikini...
Now, a major pet peeve of mine when it comes to little girls is red fucking nail polish. I HATE to see that. Maybe it's becasue I've never been one for nail polish but I canNOT stand it!

I guess this should go into the unpopular thread but I cannot imagine why little girls would need the bra part before puberty or when they feel uncomfortable without it. I've spend my childhood at the beach without the bra bit and never ever missed it. Swimming (training) we wore a one piece.

I hate when I go to get a manicure and there are 4-5 year old girls there getting the same treatment.

I've seen very young girls, like 11 or 12, getting haircolor foils. WTF is wrong with these moms?

i don't have strong feeling about nail polish, but about the bikinis - i get that it is much easier to do a two piece bathing suit, and yeah, little girls don't really need a top. i would have mine go topless except that sun exposure is a big issue, so i get them swim shirts. then they are protected from the sun, can play with ease, and it's easy to go to the bathroom.

When I saw "string bikini" I thought that it was this type of crochet thing

    not this type of thing...

Which appears to be much more substantial.

this takes are making me (a little) relieved that we didn't have a child, it sound very difficult to navigate....

Sorry but I seen no reason why kids should wear bikini's .short shorts, boob tube top etc. The sexualisation of children is getting fucking ridiculous. Times have changed.
