He looks unrecognizable in those TMZ pics. I wish I hadn't seen them. He was really a beautiful man in his youth. RIP, George.

It's amazing how many great artists can't read sheet music. The Gibbs for instance (as in BeeGees) couldn't, Elvis, The Beatles, Eric Clapton and quite a few others.

A lot of guitar and bass players and drummers don't read music because it doesn't help them much. On a guitar there's more than one way to play any chord, and it will sound very different depending on which string the individual notes of the chord are played on, and whether it's barred. (And that's not even getting into alternate tuning.) Bass players don't play chords, but a G on the fourth string is not going to sound exactly the same as a G on the first string, even if they're the same octave. So, guitarists and bassists use something called tab (or tablature) that looks like this:

That is, if they use anything at all. Most play by ear, because it's easier. Drummers can use formal notation, but even more of them play by ear, or just keep the beat and improvise the fills.

A lot of them say that can't read music, but they probably can if they try, just not as well as a pianist or violinist, because they don't ever need to.

Look at Bowie and Seal witnessing how George tears the song up with such ease.

I like that ^ (it's a cool collage/tribute) but, also don't like that at the same time.
Anton's passing still literally makes my heart hurt for many reasons. Much of which personal. Not a bad bone in that kid's body. F*ck, I miss him.

Anyway... Back on topic, I spent much of my weekend cleaning around the house dancing to a George Michael playlist and looking up all of his old videos. Did you know that David Fincher directed "Freedom?" Now that I've watched it a million time since finding that out, the camera work in itself speaks volumes (of directorial Fincher's style).

The video for "Too Funky," I have no idea why [now] but, I remember thinking that the motorcycle bodysuit model Emma Sjoberg wore was the coolest thing I had ever seen at that point (1992).

It gave me the supercreeps back in the day, and I have no idea why. I watched it again the other night and yeah, still creepy. I'm weird.
