Hi there, long time lurker but had to register to post a couple of things. I have done some searches to see if this has been posted and couldn't find it, so apologies if I missed it.

Simon Hattenstone from The Guardian has been corresponding with Amanda from near the beginning, he finally met her first hand the week before this latest verdict and there is an extended video interview. It is not in a studio, with makeup that she doesn't normally wear making her look weird (not to mention the makeup artists trying to emphasise her being pretty, fluffing her hair etc, which is really not the way she is normally so it looks forced), she is in her own comfort zone and she comes across as far less weird in my opinion than in other situations. Anyway, I think it is a "must watch" to get a sense of her in a more authentic way. Exclusive video interview with Amanda Knox | World news | theguardian.com
And then the article that the above Daily Fail article is based on ,and is twisting, is this one here, and it follows up the video nicely Who is Amanda Knox? | World news | The Guardian

Anyway, just wanted to add these to the mix as I feel they give a better picture of who she is and where she is coming from.

This is a quote from the Sunday Times 02.02.14 (print version because you have to pay for online access):

The (Knox) family are masters at getting people to "listen." They have been using the services of David Marriott, of the Seattle PR firm Gogerty Stark Marriott. He ensures that Knox gives interviews to largely sympathetic "soft news" television networks straight from his "playbook."

"David advised her to personalise it, talk about "I" all the time even if that makes her seem narcissistic ... express sympathy for the victim, avoid forensic detail that might trip her up and punch home the message that she is the victim of foreign justice," said a PR specialist who has worked with Marriott.
I wish some of the people I deal with had a PR person, it would make their criminal cases so a lot smoother (and I'm not being sarcastic). It was smart of her family to hire a PR rep, with people watching her every move it would be really easy for her to say or do the "wrong thing" without even realizing it and start tongues wagging. I don't see anything wrong bringing in an expert under these circumstances...

I wanted to suggest, for anyone who does not really understand how people can implicate others and/or falsely confess to being present at a crime, that you try to find film The Central Park Five by Ken Burns and watch it. I know it is available on Netflix. I watched this the other night, only having read about the situation before but never having heard the men testify about it, it is truly fascinating.

It fascinates me too. It used to be far more common before these things started to be regulated for, but now we don't hear about it happening so much, which is possibly why people don't believe, or think even, that she might have made a false confession. But it does happen, and anytime you hear that not all of the interview was taped or tapes are missing then one needs to suspect the confession may not be reliable.
But it ain't just the supposed perp's statement that can be fucked with. The power of the human mind is mighty, and even if we don't realise we are doing it, witnesses, police, forensic investigators, prosecutors, casual observers, ALL are capable of twisting facts to suit ourselves and the theories we are most attached too, for myriad reasons. The Innocence Project - Understand the Causes: False Confessions / Admissions and there are other pages on faulty forensic evidence, eyewitness statements etc. none are vey long, they just give extra back up to the idea that many parts of the Kercher case have been fucked up by ineptitude, or corruption, and Knox and her youthful, and even personally unique, na´vetÚ was the vital ingredient in a perfect storm for this miscarriage of justice.

Well since it is derailed by Peyton, the food talk should naturally shift to potatoes.

And since this is GR, those potatoes should be fried in Crisco, garnished with cilantro and washed down with vodka and jello shots.
