    Rose issued a statement:
Rose McGowan stands up for Evan Rachel Wood
The Cult of Hollywood, fame & the music industry must be stopped from protecting predators and selling their sickness to the world. Their sickness has a farther reach than a nuclear bomb. When those at the top help monsters for profit they hurt us all. pic.twitter.com/udhxygWhSy
    — Rose McGowan (@rosemcgowan) February 1, 2021

After Evan Rachel Wood and at least four other women have come forward with allegations of abuse from Marilyn Manson, Rose McGowan posted a video on her twitter in response. She says she is very proud that Evan has come forward and of anyone who stands up against their abusers.

While she says he was not abusive with her during their relationship, "that has no bearing on whether he was like that with others before or after". Rose also calls out Manson's record label, pr people, agents, and lawyers who were all aware of what he is and yet did nothing about it.
Much better than I anticipated. Acknowledging the fact that some men are abusive in some, but not all of their relationships is so important.

I hate when people say "well, she knew was she was signing in for".
People can be vulnerable at any age. People can be blindsided, no matter the looks. People can have no where to escape to.
This women, brava! All of them.

I think looking back we can see that Manson chose women carefully.
Dita was someone that people could easily look at as an outsider and say oh she must have been into it. Misunderstanding!
    ERW was very young.
Rose has mental illness (i believe) and a past in a cult that makes you want to vomit. While she may not have been a direct sexual abuse victim she likely was aware of what happened/could happen.

MM may have also changed over time. his behavior may have gotten worse with subsequent women.

I agree that his behavior might have worsened. He tests out a few things with some willing participants and then it grows from there.

Also, once he had his hands on a vulnerable, perhaps naive, 18 y/o, he might have felt his power and really let loose.

i'm pleasantly surprised she didn't make it all about her and how she practically invented 'me too'.

Not to mention mainstream media has been brainwashing women for decades into believing that "the power of your love will change him!" "don't leave him, fight for him, it's gonna be rewrded in the end!" "If you're THE ONE, your magical love and aura will fix it!" "if you're SPECIAL, he will change for you!"
We're being told to stay with our abusers.
    Over and over again
I can't count how many films I can't watch anymore because it triggers me so bad.

Good for Rose to stand by Evan, and she's right, just because he was allegedly OK with her doesn't mean he was with every other.
Also one thing I hate, when WOMEN defend rapists by saying "but he's always been charming with me!"
Well yeah moron, dude is not gonna rape every fucking woman he encounters, doesn't mean he's not gonna rape any at all, duh.

    ^^^ this.

Look at how far "we" have come.

I remember comments to me that victim shamed me; although it didn't have that name, for a long time after I joined here.
Including from some people/posters who are ardent anti-victim-shamers now.
    Funny that.

Sometimes people really do see the light, though. Hearing individual experiences that you guys have had has impacted the way I think about things and how things I might casually say with no offense intended can actually be obnoxious or hurt someone.

yeah, it's growth, and it's a good thing. hopefully people can continue to do it throughout their lives. no one comes into the world or ever reaches a point where they have all the answers. I sometimes look back at stuff i said in old threads and it'll be stuff i would never say today. and i'm sure the same will apply in 10 years time.

This! I've seen some of my very old posts and been shocked at what I said. Growth is a good thing. We can all change and broaden our understanding.

I don't think I could re read what I wrote, or listen to what I said when I was in my early 20s.
I was such a mean cunt as a teen / young adult.

Police respond to ‘disturbing incident’ at Marilyn Manson’s LA home: report

Police swarmed accused abuser Marilyn Manson’s Los Angeles home for a welfare check late Wednesday — as witnesses also said they heard someone screaming that they “wanted to leave,” according to reports.

Several officers in at least four cruisers pulled up to the 52-year-old shock rocker’s Hollywood Hills home, with a chopper also flying overhead and shining a light on the grounds, according to TMZ.

The welfare check was requested by an alarmed friend who had spent several hours trying to contact the singer just days after a slew of women publicly accused him of abuse, the outlet said.

A witness outside the property also told officers that they “heard someone inside shouting that they wanted to leave,” video on TMZ shows.

“They wanted to leave, but someone wouldn’t let them leave,” the witness is heard saying in the clip.

The officers arrived at around 6 p.m. and made repeated doomed attempts to contact anyone inside the property.

They returned around two hours later, and finally left after managing to contact a rep for the singer, TMZ said.

The rep assured officers that the under-fire star — real name Brian Warner — was fine and merely did not want to come out of the house, where several members of the media were waiting, the outlet said.

Another witness told The Sun that there had appeared to be a gathering outside his home. “No music but raised voices, and people in the garden just meters from the cops,” the witness said.

It was not immediately clear if officers investigated the reported cries of someone wanting to leave.

The welfare check came two days after Manson’s actress ex Evan Rachel Wood accused him of being the man who “horrifically abused” her for years.

“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission,” the rocker’s former fiancee wrote in an Instagram post — leading to numerous other accusations against the singer.

Manson insisted that the accusations were “horrible distortions of reality.”

“My intimate relationships have always been consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth,” he wrote on Instagram.

His ex-wife, burlesque star Dita Von Teese, on Wednesday, also spoke out Wednesday said she had needed time while “processing the news.”

While Von Teese said she had not been abused by Manson during their time together, she wished ‘strength’ on the women who had come forward.

‘Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship. I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself,’ she wrote.

“Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple. Had they, I would not have married him in December 2005,” she wrote on Instagram.

Instead of abuse, she said she “left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse.”

Former porn star Jenna Jameson also revealed she dumped Manson because he bit her during sex.

Funny that Dita and Rose both denied any abuse. Maybe that's why he went for an 18 year old next, she was easier to groom.
