Michael Lohan was in great spirits when he stepped out in Los Angeles last night.

And it’s no surprise the father of Lindsay was in such a jolly mood as he definitely has something to smile about.

It was the first time that Michael has been spotted since it was announced that his girlfriend Kate Major is expecting a baby.

The 52-year-old had been enjoying a night out with friends at West Hollywood spot BOA and was spotted strolling down the street with his pals.

Michael looked happy and healthy and was dressed casually in a black T-shirt tucked into matching jeans and trainers.

His tabloid reporter squeeze revealed her blossoming bump over the weekend and is believed to be in her third trimester.

Although a representative for the showbiz patriarch confirmed the pregnancy to MailOnline no further details were given.

However, it may be there are legal repercussions concerning the conception of the baby as Kate's pre-existing restraining order against Michael, was only lifted a matter of weeks ago, TMZ reports.

The 28-year-old blonde filed for a restraining order against Michael last June when the two were going back and forth with abuse allegations.

As recently as this April she called the police after Michael reportedly violated the order by turning up at her hair salon and banging on the windows.

Michael refuted the allegations, and claimed Kate was 'trying' to get pregnant with his child at the time.

He said in an interview with RadarOnline.com: 'I was in the hospital with kidney stones and Kate just barged in! She's been taking ovulation tests trying to get pregnant from me.'

Kate later responded to Michael's scathing remarks via the website, saying she wanted nothing more to do with him.

Legal troubles: It has been reported that the tabloid reporter had a restraining order against Michael at the time of conception

In a statement, she said: 'I don't even want to give Michael Lohan any more energy.

'He is a sick, old man who I want NOTHING to do with. He is a liar and because I want nothing to do with him, he has been stalking me and I finally HAD to take action again.'

The news of Kate's pregnancy doesn't spell good news for Lindsay, 26, and her siblings Michael, 25, Ali, 18, and Cody, 16, as their father has previously claimed his children 'hate' her.
