I dunno. Eddie used to have it back in the day, but he's lost his mojo.
What Eddie had he mostly stole from Richard Pryor.

Whoa. He hasn't had a hit in ages. Whose dick did he suck to land the Oscars?

Eddie is definitely a funny guy, hopefully this year's Oscars will not be a disaster.
I utterly adore this movie. It doesn't feel like Christmas if I don't catch it on TV and I will always watch it, no matter what.

But I don't really like Eddie. Still, after the fiasco last year the only way is up.

This might actually work. Eddie has gotten a bit more "family-friendly" since he had kids himself and did the Dr. Dolittle and Shrek movies. He could possibly appeal to the Oscar audience. If he can tap into his hilarious sense of humor, he might be a hit. "Might" being the operative word...

Eddie Murphy on his worst day will be loads better than Anne Hathaway and James Franco. Loads. I hope he brings it. He can be so funny.

They're still chasing 'edgy', but they're afraid of performers they can't manage. They tried 'young and hip' last year (failed). They're scared of Ricky Gervais (shame), neutered Chris Rock (yawn) and, since Eddie is desperate to please the Academy (didn't he walk out in a strop when he didn't win Best Supporting Actor for Dream Girls?), he probably seemed like a fairly safe choice. Eddie Murphy. Safe. I never thought I'd use those words together.

I was kind of shocked when I heard he was hosting. He hasn't really been the same since the 1980s. I hope a little risque humor comes out, say Coming to America meets The Hangover bit for the Oscars instead of a smarmy attempt to be relevant.

Shoot, he can bring back Gumby if he wants to appeal to the kids. Kids like Gumby, do they?

No one has mentioned anything Eddie has been in in the last DECADE that they liked, was good, or funny.

Isn't he hosting because of the new movie being directed by the same person who's part of the production? I can't remember his name right now. When Eddie's funny, he's funny. I think he could be great if the material is good.
