This sounds british to me. We Americans don't say "lashings". Anyhoo... The dumb bitch can't have ANY alcohol if she's a recovering alcoholic. the couple of glasses of champagne is harmless to most, but a definate hazzard to an alcoholic. even though this story is most likely made up, I think she has fallen off the wagon long ago.

even the british don't say lashings since about 1920! She probably drinks a full bottle of champagne - let's face it do most of us put the stopper back after a couple of glasses? Especially when it's good french wine?
