Doesn't matter if it was a private conversation to me.. he said it, he meant it. If people got away with saying nasty, derogatory things in private a lot of scummy people would be praised as angelic solely because their nice-guy facade was airtight.

If you say it, have the balls to own up to it. I doubt he'd be "deeply remorseful" if this wasn't made public. People don't change their opinions, especially ones as strong as Dog's, overnight.

Doesn't surprise me. I liked his show, but he always seemed fake. I don't care if he said it in private, it was disgusting. And as stated before, often we are more ourselves in private with those close to us than in public situations, no? So she taped him; it's shady but he is a fucker. Nottt cool man.

I wouldn't have time to defend "everyone" even if I wanted to, which I don't. I'm glad that you are a better person than me, Nana55, and that you've never made a racist remark in public or private. The world needs more people like you.

I might ask you why you feel you need to attack everyone, but it's really none of my business. I'm not the one making this thread about me, it's about the issue at hand.

FYI, I think he is an "asshole" too, but that doesn't mean I don't have a healthy skepticism and revulsion for leaked tapes, unknown sources who provide them and people who spy/invade others' privacy for profit and to advance their own agendas.

A lot of people say things in the heat of the moment that they would be pretty surprised to read about on the front page of the newspaper as gospel. It was in this very forum where someone told me that to say you "hate" someone or hope they and their children "die" was "just an expression of speech" and that I shouldn't be bothered by it. How is this any different, really? By those very standards stated at GR, you either mean what you say or you don't, no in between. You can't have it both ways.

I think calling someone a "Cockney".. whatever that is, I've actually never heard of it.. and calling someone a "N----r" repeatedly is not a comparable situation.

And I stand by my comment that people show their true colors in private. He's in the public eye already, he should be more conscientious of what image he portrays and how he really is because any celebrity should know that if their secret persona doesn't match up to their public one, trouble is imminent.

He's a racist bigot and that says a lot because I actually found him sincere on his show.

I'm glad no one has ever taped me when I'm mad. I can say such awful things and then I forget about them and when people call me in on my shit I honestly don't remember a thing. I don't think I'd call someone a racist epithet but I don't know... I kinda liked Dog so it's sad that he did this. I haven't listened to the tape (I'm at work) so please don't take this as a defence, I just don't like private conversations being aired like that. I didn't like when Kim Basinger used it on Alec Baldwin either.
