Your arguments and the way you go about them really annoy me. Its coming across as so rigid and condescending. I dont care enough to go through the 30+ pages and isolate the 'oh you said this' vs 'i said this' instances.

What you haven't seemed to understand, despite being told NUMEROUS times, is that we aren't saying (for example) 'no one on the face of the earth has ever run a marathon wearing long yoga pants.. Therefore, Katie couldn't have possibly run a marathon either.' No. No one every said or thought that. Thats a simplistic argument and no one ever made that, yet you continue to think that we did.

Its the cumulative effect, of all the tiny parts added up into this one instance. And try as you might with your painstaking linking to 50 zillion photos, you haven't proved a thing and you've missed the point.

Ah, I dont even care. I"m just really annoyed with your arguments. I'm leaving this thread, its not getting anywhere.

And Cali, I notice that "condescending" is the favoured word among some members now when people don't necessarily agree with the prevailing, some might even say rigid, opinions of posters in any given thread. I think it is "rigid" NOT to consider the opinions of others, even if they differ from your own. And to say to someone that they've been "told numerous times" sounds kind of condescending to me. Sorry, but it does. I mean, why does she have to listen to you or anyone else?

And why, as nwgirl asked, make this personal? It's about Katie Holmes and a marathon, not anybody here. I fail to see, however, how she missed the point. She actually addressed several key issues, among them the veracity of Defamer's reporting, which certainly seems to be lacking in corroborated sources and basic research skills. That's Journalism 101.

I've said all along that I didn't know whether she ran it or not and until there is conclusive proof, I won't make up my mind either way. Yet that seems to bother some people and for the life of me I don't understand why. It seems like a very reasonable position.

Oh, I'm sorry. I've annoyed you? Well please, do tell how I can state my posts in such a way that you're not annoyed. I will be a good little poster and only say things the way that makes you comfortable so as not to be annoying. And I certainly won't be snotty or condescending either, beacuse I know I have that market cornered too.

I do find it interesting though that out of 30 plus pages of numerous posters posting numerous times about this topic (all in the affirmative of course) that my numerous dissenting posts are cause to call me "invested" in this topic. And question if I'm a COS member.

And yes, I am a COS member and I've just been biding my time on this board for two years waiting until the big "did she or didn't she run" thread to come up so that I could put my Xenu mind powers to the test. I'm sneaky that way. In fact, all of us at the local COS house-o-worship had this planned long before Katie even came into the picture. There really is virtually no tolerance for dissenting opinions in GR celeb threads any more. It's sad, because as I keep telling anyone who will listen, IT DIDN'T USED TO BE THIS WAY. You know PB, it has not escaped my attention that there is not one affirmative post in this thread where the poster has:

• Been asked what they're trying to prove
• Been asked why they keep coming back
• Had their motives questioned
• Been asked what their religious affiliation is
• Been called rigid or uncompromising for their view
• Been told to get out of the thread and go play devils advocate somewhere else

Not one. I don't particularly find that to be coincidental. Looks like I'm not the only person who has a problem when my "opinion" is not agreed with. Big shocker there.

If anyone doesn't like that I keep pointing out the other side to totally false and inaccurate information, don't read my posts. Put me on ignore. If actual fact or research is not interesting to you, but totally made up/incorrect shit is, fabulous. If you're content with taking what other people say at face value and not finding out if it's true, great. I'm not like that so don't expect that I'm just going to go away because you don't like what I have to say or because it contradicts what you say. And if there's something wrong with how I say what I say, turn me in and let the mods do their job.

nwgirl, I think it's perfectly fine to present a different opinion or perspective. Please continue to post your opinion & research. People disagree with each other all the time, there is plenty of tolerance for it, and it barely makes a ripple. I think everybody just has issues that are kind of important to them, for whatever reason, and tempers are more likely to flare in those cases.

Then you have people who just want to argue all the damn time just to argue.
