The hilarious woman who recapped the books on her blog (link on our book thread)- I hope she reviews the movie.

But really, they should have casted anyone else by Dakota. I'm sure she's a sweet girl, but not right for this part.
You're presuming that any decent actors would come within 10 miles of this dreck. If they'd read the books they wouldn't even bother picking up the script.

I was hoping it was Katrina Lumsden. Those reviews were 24 carat rolled gold.

I never read the first book, but I did read the second - Fifty Shades Darker. Boy, what a misnomer THAT was. Five hundred pages of the most boring vanilla sex you can imagine, peppered with declarations of "I love you SO much!!!!!" and "I'll NEVER leave you EVER!!!!!" Gag. There was one BDSM scene and even that was extremely soft and kind of meh. The whole thing was a tedious yawn-fest. The best part of the book was the last page and lead-in to Fifty Shades Freed.

Confession: A small part of me wants to hate-watch this. Once it's available on one of the cable movie channels I'm already paying for. And I have nothing better to do.

I could barely get through the first book. Haven't even attempted the other two. But I loved Katrina Lumsden's reviews!

I'll definitely watch it eventually. When I smoke weed I watch lots of shitty movies, they're the best.

Well I don't even smoke but I still find myself watching shitty movies occasionally. Like this one last night: Tamara (2005) - IMDb

Ian Somerhalder petitioned HARD for this role and he was honestly who I pictured when reading the books - it was a cross between him and Matt Bomer. I don't know where the eff Dornan came from.

And Dakota has the Kristen Stewart twitching and stuttering nonsense down pat.

As pretty as Somerhalder is (Delena 4eva!) he's not what I meant by "decent actor". I love him but he's no Olivier.
