not just meghan, it's all millennials, you know, the generation that's to blame for the killing all the things old farts love: shopping malls, applebee's, sitcoms, marriage, consumerism and the american dream

the daily mail. and old, right wing people in general who are constantly bitching about how millennials are killing shopping malls, aren't buying houses, aren't getting married at 25 the way older generations did, are delaying having kids, don't want to live in the suburbs, etc... all the things that defined american and more broadly anglo-saxon culture. it's like a joke at this point. and sure, part of it is lifestyle shift but what these old farts don't realise is millennials are also starting off their lives with way more debt than previous generations, no job stability, and no money to spend on shopping and buying a house and getting married and having babies.

ok - i live in a bubble, no doubt. a LOT of millennials here are making $$$. they ARE able to buy a house (and in SF that is no small feat), have kids, or do whatever they want. personally, i don't care if they do those things. or not. what i care about is the entitlement. but luckily, i've only experienced that in the workplace a few times. most of the millennials bring an enthusiasm to work that is welcome.

i meet so many millennials who really want to make a difference.

I live in a bubble too (or at least outside the bubble looking in) and many of the millennials where I am have endless amounts of money. They walk around in easily $10,000 worth of winter gear (you'd think they were giving Canada Goose coats out for free) - they look like they're taking selfies with polar bears in the Arctic circle instead of grocery shopping. They live expensive apartments and houses and drive brand new expensive cars. And the rest of them fit into the scenario of unstable work, multiple jobs, college debt, etc. Anyway, it's a wide spectrum.

As for selfies and food pics, it's common sense and good manners. Never assume it's OK to take a picture of someone or their home unless they gave you express permission.

yeah, maybe the bay area is different because you basically have to be super rich to live there. i don't think they're any worse than any other generation, and like all generations, there are some cultural shifts, but a lot of their attitudes are influenced by the world around them and what they grew up with.

these are all lists of things millennials have 'killed'. it's pretty funny:

Oh no! Think of the mayo! I think they did well on killing "big beer" if nothing else. And the Hooters.

Department stores were dying since the 1980s at least and unless we go back to the ones where salesclerks actually waited on you and they had restaurants in them, who cares?

Actually it’s the Internet that’s killing all the stores amd malls. Amazon reigns supreme.

But yeah, people wanting cheap shit without having to leave their house for it killed department stores and also department stores stopped being an "experience" a long ass time ago.
