Cosby and Polanski out of the academy.

The Academy Has Kicked Out Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski

On Thursday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that it was expelling Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby from its membership.

In a statement to Jezebel, the Academy wrote:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors met on Tuesday night (May 1) and has voted to expel actor Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski from its membership in accordance with the organization’s Standards of Conduct. The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy’s values of respect for human dignity.

Bill Cosby was found guilty of sexual assault last month after nearly 60 women total accused him of assault, coercion, drugging for decades. Roman Polanski was arrested and charged for sexually assaulting a minor in 1977, to which he pleaded guilty before fleeing the country. Since then, other women have come forward to accuse the director of sexual misconduct and assault. In October 2017 the Academy also expelled Harvey Weinstein from membership after dozens of women accused the producer of sexual misconduct and assault.

I get the Cosby and Polanski thing because they were actually convicted. But Weinstein wasn't, not yet anyway. What about Woody Allen, or anyone else who has been accused, but not convicted?

I agree about those that haven’t been convicted yet. I was actually shocked about Weinstein which is why I asked about Polanski taking so long cause I knew he’d already been convicted.

Yeah, it'd be nice if they had some actual criteria. Instead of just going with what's PC.

Had another HA HA moment with that. Money talks until PC gets too big and then it's damage control time.

Meh, the Academy is a club or I guess a business. They don't have to meet some legal standard to bounce someone. Weinstein is no longer part of the industry and was/is a raging asshole. That might be enough.

In a blistering statement, Camille Cosby says her husband is a victim of mob justice
Then he shouldn't have drugged and assaulted mobs of women.

Default BILL COSBY LOCK HIM UP MONDAY AFTER SENTENCING ... Prosecutors Say

Bill Cosby better enjoy what little freedom he's got left, 'cause prosecutors in his sexual assault case want him locked behind bars Monday morning.

Authorities connected to the case tell TMZ ... prosecutors will push for the disgraced comedian/felon to be immediately hauled off to prison once the judge

    sentences him Monday AM.

Remember, prosecutors wanted Cosby behind bars after the guilty verdict back in April. The judge saw it differently and released him on $1 million bail,

ordering him to remain at his home until sentencing.

Cosby's legal team will ask the judge to let the 81-year-old remain free on bail while they appeal the conviction, which could take years.

As we reported ... Cosby faces a maximum of 30 years in prison for aggravated indecent assault on Andrea Constand.

Cosby's life is now in the judge's hands ... literally.

In this country of Orange 45, what do you think is really going to happen? The Constand conviction - great, awesome, justice. The sentence? Camille, what's for dinner tonight?

Judge, prove me wrong. Then get the asshole out of the Oval office.

Bill Cosby ruled a ‘sexually violent predator’

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — He’s gone from “The Cosby Show” to “Predator.”

Bill Cosby, the comedian once revered as “America’s Dad,” has been deemed a “sexually violent predator” by the judge who will sentence him today to up to 10 years in prison.

The decision comes after a defense expert tried to convince the jurist that the 81-year-old, who claims to be legally blind, was not a danger to the community. Dr. Kristen Dudley, a member of the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board, previously designated Cosby as a “predator.”

“I find the Commonwealth has a clear and convincing standard,” Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill said in court. Cosby showed no reaction — as one of his accusers, Chelan Lasha, pumped her fist in the air in the audience.

The designation means the fallen funnyman will spend the rest of his life in periodic counseling and treatment, in addition to having to register for life with the state police. The public will also be notified of his address, offenses and photo wherever he goes.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele posed a series of standard questions to Cosby about whether he understood the implications of the serious label.

“You understand that you will be required to register with the Pennsylvania state police for the remainder of your lifetime?” he asked

“Yes,” Cosby responded, after asking him to speak up.

On Monday, Dudley testified that given Cosby’s 30-year penchant for “non-consenting women,” she was unable to say whether he was done preying on women.

“It is possible he has already met someone who could be a future victim,” she said.

Steele continued, “Do you understand that if you fail to comply with the lifetime registration requirement, it will be a felony in the first degree or a felony in the second degree?”

    “Yes,” Cosby answered.

The actor will learn later Tuesday whether he’ll be sent to the slammer for the 2004 sexual assault of Andrea Constand. He’s been accused by some 60 women of drugging and molesting them.

He faces up to 10 years behind bars.

Andrea Constand’s statement letter made public during Cosby sentencing

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — The victim impact statement written by Andrea Constand — the woman who brought down Bill Cosby — was made public Tuesday, as the comedian was set to learn his fate for sexually assaulting her 14 years ago.

“To truly understand the impact that sexual assault has had on my life, you have to understand the person I was before it happened,” Constand’s victim impact statement begins.

The five-page submission, given to Judge Steven O’Neill on July 4, details the 45-year-old’s comfortable early life.

“I knew who I was and I liked who I was. I was at the top of my game, certain on the groundwork provided by my education and athletic training would stand by me in good stead whatever challenges lay ahead,” she wrote.

“How wrong I was. In fact, nothing could prepare me for an evening of January 2004, when life as I knew it came to an abrupt halt.”

Constand, a former basketball administrator at Temple University, then delves straight into being sexually assaulted by Cosby, who befriended her and gave her career advice.

“I had just given my two-months notice at Temple when the man I had come to know as a mentor and friend drugged and sexually assaulted me,” she said. “Instead of being able to run, jump, and do pretty much anything I wanted to do physically, during the assault I was paralyzed and completely helpless. I could not move my arms or legs. I couldn’t speak or even remain conscious. I was completely vulnerable, and powerless to protect myself.”

The letter goes on to detail the “pain” and “shame” she felt, in addition to “self doubt” and confusion.

When she reported the assault, she writes, the fear and pain only intensified.

“When the case closed with a settlement, sealed testimony and a non-disclosure agreement, I thought that finally — finally — I could get on with my life, that this awful chapter in my life was over at last. These exact same feeling followed me throughout both criminal trials,” she wrote. “The attacks on my character continued, spilling over outside the courtroom steps attempting to discredit me, and cast me in a false light. These character assassinations have caused me to suffer insurmountable stress and anxiety, which I still experience today.”

She goes on to write that she “had” to testify, and that she is “one of the lucky ones.”

“Bill Cosby took my beautiful, healthy young spirit and crushed it. He robbed me of my health and vitality, my open nature, and my trust in myself and others,” the letter reads. “We may never know the full extend of his double life as a sexual predator but his decades-long reign of terror as a serial rapist is over.”

Cosby was convicted in April of three counts of aggravated indecent assault on Constand, who testified in both of Cosby’s criminal trials.

Some 60 other women have accused him of a litany of drug-facilitated sexual assaults.

On Monday, Constand briefly took the stand to face Cosby yet again, but did not relive that night.

“Your honor, I have testified,” she said calmly. “I have given you my impact statement. The jury heard me, Mr. Cosby heard me, and now what I am asking for is justice as the court sees fit.”

Cosby faces up to 10 years behind bars.

O’Neill is expected to sentence him later Tuesday.
