Bill Cosby has just been charged with felony sexual assault ... technically called aggravated indecent assault.
The charges stem from Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, who claims in 2004 Cosby drugged and assaulted her while she was working as the operations manager for the women's basketball team.
Montgomery County authorities investigated her claims, but eventually rejected the case ... citing a lack of evidence.
Constand sued Cosby in 2005 and settled the case a year later.
District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman reopened the investigation this summer after more than 50 women came forward with similar accusations. The D.A. said the charges were based on new evidence.
The D.A. says Cosby gave Constand pills and wine that rendered her unable to consent to sexual contact with Cosby ... something the D.A. says she rejected twice in the past.
Under Pennsylvania's 12-year statute of limitations for felony sex crimes, Ferman's office had until January to file a case based on Constand's claims.
If convicted, Cosby faces up to 10 years in prison.

This is amazing news, but I fear he's going to walk on this. This is a 12yo case that didn't have enough evidence the first go around, but now, with all this buzzing in the news for the last year, they've suddenly found more evidence that will convict him? I really, really, really hope they have something explosive but right now it doesn't look very promising.

Bruce Castor is an asshole who is part of the Good Ole Boys Club in Montco. He refused to prosecute 12 years ago because of Cosby's wealth and because he is a famous man. Castro has a long history of not supporting women in these cases. He encouraged the victim to take the settlement offered and move on with her life. Then the publicity hit and all these other woman came forward. Suddenly Castor changes his tune and claims he never saw all the evidence which is bullshit. The police who investigated believed the victim and they were furious that Castor insinuated that their investigation blocked him from pushing the charges. Castor got his now though and was not elected to office again. He can sit off to the side now and try to come up with more excuses for why Cosby walked and went on to rape again and again.

Update: local news is reporting Cosby will appear in court today.

Funny, I was thinking the exact same words while reading the last couple of pages. I loved this guy, and now knowing what kind of 'man' he is, it's shocking. It's so far removed from the image he portrayed. Loved the Cosby show, was looking forward to revisiting it again but I just can't now. I'm glad it's out and hopefully he'll pay for his crimes. Should have been dealt with a long time ago. I hope that judge is feeling the heat now that it's all coming out about how he lied to save a rapist, allowing him to continue. Someone better get it right this time.
