That's because Crowe is a complete dick and Bale probably wasn't having any of it

Not at all! They are huge friends.

Actually, if someone accused Cruise, Cage, or Travolta I would do the same with them-presume they are innocent until proven guilty. An accusation does not a conviction make, in all cases. And we don't even know what "behaviour" he's been accused of. Pushing someone out of a door is considered assault.
assault
A crime that occurs when one person tries to physically harm another in a way that makes the person under attack feel immediately threatened. Actual physical contact is not necessary; threatening gestures that would alarm any reasonable person can constitute an assault. Compare battery.
battery
A crime consisting of physical contact that is intended to harm someone. Unintentional harmful contact is not battery, no mater how careless the behavior or how severe the injury. A fist fight is a common battery; being hit by a wild pitch in a baseball game is not.

But we don't even know if he actually did anything wrong, or what it supposedly was yet.

Well, I'm not a fan of Bale but I'm definitely not going to crucify him either. He deserves the benefit of the doubt - he's never publicly been accused of domestic violence before, therefore this is not a set pattern that we have seen. Personally, assault sounds like they had no bruises on them, battery would have meant they were physically assaulted. Assault is the intent to do harm, you don't even have to lay a finger on them to be charged with assault. I could tell someone "if you don't stay the fuck away from me, I'll kill you" and I could be charged with assault. I could raise my hand to someone in rage, and then put it down, and be charged with assault. It does sound VERY fishy to me that the assault happened on Sunday, no police were called, and then they traipsed down to the police station on Monday to press charges. This sounds like a simple family altercation that we've all had, I don't think any punches were thrown or else the charges would be much more severe - personally, I have no idea what happened here so I'll hold my tongue, but I will say the whole thing seems awfully....odd. Doesn't mesh, and I'm not about to crucify him as a batterer with zero evidence. And for people to say, his family wouldn't make this up - are you for real? I have seen firsthand (although thank God not in my own family) that greed, anger, envy makes some people do severe things - blood is not always thick.

Exactly. Why do some people always assume the accusers are in the wrong? Either of them could be. But when it's a celeb someone likes they try to make excuses for them. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

In trying to find more on this story, I discovered that his stepmom is Gloria Steinem! I just thought that was really random.
And his wife was Winona Ryder's assistant at one time.
Okay, back to the main story now...

Speaking only for myself, I honestly didn't know who this guy was until I saw Batman a couple of days ago. I'm not even a true fan, much less someone who sees him as an idol. But like others have pointed out, he doesn't have a reputation for being violent & the whole thing is just strange. We don't even know exactly what behavior he's being accused of.

Based on the tiny bit of info we have so far, this is what makes sense to me. But again, I'm not saying he did or didn't do anything.

Bale financially supported his family for a long time, not sure if he continued to do so after he married and started a family.
If Bale were a violent person, we would have heard about it long before this.
Apparently, his mother and sisters were all big-time mooches. This sounds like a shakedown.
But, having said that, Bale has been know to use drugs and it was rumored he used steroids to bulk up for "Batman Begins". Maybe it was 'roid rage combined with a nagging mom.

I can't agree with that. My mother wished my husband dead one time. At that time I did verbally abuse her, and had she been in front of me I would have physically abused her too.

I think the reason people are skeptical about this item is that Bale doesn't have a reputation for being an asshole or a hothead. I'm sure he didn't get along with Russell Crowe. NOBODY gets along with Russell Crowe.
It's possible that Bale IS an abusive temperamental asshole. It's also possible that his mother and sibling are assholes. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt not because he's good looking and talented (though it's true), but because I haven't heard any negative things about him.

According to his dad's obit - Jenny James isn't Sharon's mom so it was his mom and 1/2 sister??????
"Besides his wife, Mr. Bale is survived by his children from his second marriage, to Jenny James Bale of England: the actor Christian Bale and Louise Bale, both of Los Angeles, and Sharon Bale of England; his daughter from his first marriage, Erin Kreunen of South Africa; and four grandchildren."
not that it makes a difference - just thought it was interesting

Sky news has just reported that Bale has left the police station but no news whether he has been charged or not- but he has left on bail. Also the incident happened before he showed up for the premiere but he was arrested just afterwards.

I think you were reading the break incorrectly. It appears he had 3 children with Jenny James - Christian, Louise and Sharon - then his daughter from his first marriage is Erin.

Obviously the charge was serious enough for him to be taken into custody ). I would think that the authorities are very careful when arresting well known people.
If he indeed has an anger management problem there could very well be some violence at home with his wife. His publicist has some major spinwork to do.
