Damn this one bothers me. I usually side on the side of art when it comes to nudity. This shot crosses the line for me though. It wouldn't bother me if her legs were not open with the focal point being her crotch. I agree the girls were probably just playing around having fun but the photographer knew what she had captured. I would never allow a photo like this of my daughter to be out in public.

hmm yeah ok....that pic is maybe 'crop out the bottom half and pretend it never happened' thing. The pic itself is quite sweet and I remember dancing around with my sis in a similar careless way, but I'd be mortified if my parents had a picture of me like that little girl on the floor!! I can see why people are offended, and yes I can see why it is a controversial picture.

My own experience with this is with my (newly minted) husband-- My sister has had a little girl and bought one of these 'baby bucket' bath things. She was bathing her and I had a go and when she offered Hubster a go he said NO.
I asked him later why he was so anti, and he said he didn't want to hold someone else's naked baby because it'd feel 'wrong' and 'pervy'
Now as far as I know he's not a paedo, just one of the scores of guys that feel he is not allowed to interact with kids just in case he is wrongly labelled as a kiddie eating sicko. It is such a shame.

If I had've accidentally taken a shot of my daughter like that I would have destroyed it.
And taken a less intrusive shot that didn't invade her privacy like this does.
A different angle or position of the photographer could've made quite a cute picture. This instead is disturbing and too intrusive.

it also leads me to believe that the photog exploited this in the name of "art", but it looks to me like he's just a perv who is irresponsibly putting "art" out there that is calling forth all sorts of people. it pains me to imaginehow many people go see this type of "art" so they can get off on it. and THAT, is what gives it porn status in my book.

I am one of the biggest haters of pedophiles there is, but it is a sad world when a man or woman is afraid to bathe with their own child or take a picture of their kids in the tub.
I don't know a damned thing about Elton John (other than he is a ridiculously talented man  ) but I wouldn't imagine that a gay man would need or want photos of little girls...
You have to be glad that someone is watching out for kids, but how far should that go?

Well, since I am home today I opened the picture, and while it just looks like taking a picture of kids goofing off to me, I personally don't see why anyone but immediate family would want such a picture. It is certainly not anything that I would want to hang in my living room. Just my opinion.
Hate to say it, but I was almost relieved that it wasn't two boys. I am really tired of the "gay, must be a pedophile" way of thinking.

I've never really correlated gay with pedophilia, and I haven't really heard it that much. Now with priests, that's a completely different story.

Exactly! I have nude pics of my kids, but none with their genitalia showing. It's just not necessary.
Why someone would want to hang that in their living room is beyond me. And how is it art..... somebody was lying to that women when they told her she was an 'artist'. No telling how much that piece of trash sold for.
I swear, rich folks will buy anything!
