He said he did not ant to talk about any type of surgery below the waste, which leads me to believe that still a girl form the waist down. I really can't believe they would perform surgery on someone that size unless it is was a necessity.

I have a friend who underwent breast reduction surgery. She was afraid of doing it, yet when she did have the surgery, she cursed herself for having waited so long.
I never asked her about the scars, but she told me that she feels a sense of freedom now just stretching in the morning as she drinks her coffee.

I wish him and his girlfriend much happiness. I noticed on the ET teevee interview that his voice, lowered now with hormone treatments, sounds a lot like his dad's voice, Sonny Bono. That seemed kind of cool...

and really, i mean if you think about it, before someone gets their operation, they are probably living like the opposite sex but still quite very much their original sex, which some people can't deal with. but once they get their surgery and take their hormones etc, most people would be none the wiser of their original sex. so why would they get MORE grief for things when they are now actually 100% the sex they want to be and you can't really even tell anymore?

I think it was testosterone injections that give you manly features not necessarily the surgery..... I don't understand sex changes, if our gender is in our brains can't you be more imaginative on how to live your truth without butchering your body. LIVE YOUR TRUTH

I doubt he is a girl from the waist down. What is the point of all the surgeries otherwise? But he probably wants to keep the details private which would definitely be TMI.

I sincerely hope in Chaz's case he find true lasting happiness but somehow I doubt it.

I've heard that a lot of female to male transgenders do not get the genital surgery because it's very difficult to fashion an adequately functioning penis (obviously the male to female works much better).
I know a woman who had female parts, identified as a lesbian but clearly had some hormone imbalances growing up. There was no possible way to tell she was female be looking at her. Her name is adrogenous and she has a very low voice, facial hair etc, without taking additional male hormones. She evntually had a hysterectomy and a double mastectomy, but still identifies as lesbian. She doesn't want to become a man, she is kinda caught in between. Her doctor finally offered to sign papers to change her gender on her birth certificate, because every time she crossed the border and had to show ID, they pulled her over for a strip search because they didn't believe she was female. It's a very odd situation. She has been with her partner for 30 years and married for 10 i believe.

Excuse my ignorance, but Chastity was a lesbian, so technically that makes Chaz straight right?

Chaz Bono says his girlfriend of four years, Jennifer Elia, has been completely supportive during his process of becoming a man. Now, he says, his gender reassignment surgery allows the couple to physically have what they've always had emotionally: a heterosexual relationship.
"She's been amazing," Bono, 40, tells Entertainment Tonight in the second part of a two-part interview, airing Friday. "I feel really grateful to be going through this with a partner."
Elia knew his intentions from the start, Bono says. "I didn't just spring this on Jennifer recently. This was something she knew about shortly after we met."
He adds: "Our relationship always modeled a heterosexual relationship, emotionally and intellectually. So now it does physically as well."
Bono has said he felt male from the time he was a child. "I feel like I'm living in my body for the first time, and it feels really good," he tells ET.
In June, Bono's mother, Cher, told PEOPLE she supported the decision to pursue a sex change. "The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child," she said.
