How would he know if Charlie was sober? He didn't smell like alcohol? That sure doesn't mean he wasn't under the influence of something.

Charlie definately looks like a meth-head. I'd be shocked if he recovers (physically or professionally) from any of this. He's a dead man walking.

And not to mention, the interview was conducted on the phone! How the hell would he know? Oh, because Charlie says he is sober. Oh ok.

Bottom line - Charlie is not the main part of the show and he is not really needed at all.
Not sure they could pull it off, but why not try? It's not the first time a show has lost a lead character and carried on. Hell, Charlie did it himself with Spin City.

No show is successful without good supporting characters, and 2.5 Men has that. Unfortunately, Charlie overvalues himself as much as CBS did.

MASH lost several characters over the years (though not Alan Alda true) and they couldn't kill that damn show....

Killing off Charlie is a great idea, especially since (according to one episode) Berta inherits the house. The show is old and has really started to go off track. Jon Cryer's Alan has been turned into a caricature and they have no idea what to do with the kid since he's aged. And Charlie is too old (and looks older) to play the character he plays (which, of course, is a toned down version of his real self). It could breath new life into the show and make it watchable again. The other actors and characters have always been the stars of the show IMO.

They should have Evelyn and Berta move in with the kid and call it Two Bad Asses and a Half.

Such an awesome idea. I just love that storyline, it's just so weird and funny.

She is a greedy manipulative slut. As is wife number 3. But that doesn't let CS off the hook IMO.

Only this time they've not been sent back to the bench for lack of viewers, but because their flagship addict blows not only steam or whistles, he just blew it...
In their field of work, they are very bankable, trust me.
I the whole industry is made up of freelancers then there is no other way to work. Some of the people working on the TV show may have no other skills. Also, as 28 episodes were planned, one would have an expectation of actually working 28 episodes. Plus CS signed a contract for 2 more yrs, giving them an expectation of continuing work.

You're also negating the current economic climate that they're working in, less tv shows & films being made, shrinking employment & more folks looking for work - that usually leads to a drop in wages, etc, etc, etc.

Really? His 9/11 comments would fit in perfectly with the don't-immunise crowd. Plus there are p-l-e-n-t-y of non-Americans that think that Bush would do ANYTHING for oil, its not a stretch for some folks to agree even slightly with the "Bush did it" viewpoint.

Remember when RDJ came back? He couldn't get insurance so Mel Gibson stood surity himself. If (and thats a MASSIVE if), CS has invested his dosh instead of snorting it & spending it on hookers, he could insure himself himself.

THat would be great, if Matt Le Blanc were funny.... My vote is to kill the series not replace him & do something with the other actors. I like Holland Taylor, I don't recall in seeing her in anything previously.

Charlie Sheen Defends Chuck Lorre Rant; Denies He's an Anti-Semite

Though the Anti-Defamation League is criticizing him, the actor says he meant no offense by referring to 'Two and a Half Men' creator by his Jewish name.

The Anti-Defamation League has weighed in on Charlie Sheen's radio rant on Thursday, especially the actor calling Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre by his Jewish name -- Chaim Levine.

"By invoking television producer Chuck Lorre’s Jewish name in the context of an angry tirade against him, Charlie Sheen left the impression that another reason for his dislike of Mr. Lorre is his Jewishness," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "This fact has no relevance to Mr. Sheen’s complaint or disagreement, and his words are at best bizarre, and at worst, borderline anti-Semitism."
Meanwhile Sheen, who has referred to Lorre as a "maggot" and a "clown," insists he is not an anti-Semite.
"I was referring to Chuck by his real name, because I wanted to address the man and not the bullshit persona," he told TMZ.

Cmon! Even I can see that that is BS!

Mounting costs and risky lawsuits: why CBS cancelled Two and a Half Men

Charlie Sheen's outburst is the latest in a long line of problems to hit producers
Really successful television franchises are so rare that, historically, networks have been willing to carry on production in the wake of almost any complication with a star, except possibly death. So the decision by CBS to cancel the rest of the season of the most popular current comedy on American TV is a startlingly unusual move.
The main reason for doing so must be that Charlie Sheen's splenetic attack on the show's producers during a radio interview strongly suggests he is in no state to return early next month, as planned, to a series that had already been suspended while he underwent rehab. Given that the filming hiatus would almost certainly have been extended, it makes financial sense to remove the costs of keeping a set and crew on hold.
There may also be an element of psychological shock tactics: a final warning to the star that the broadcaster is prepared to consider axing Two and a Half Men. The actor himself has previously threatened to walk out, of course, but that may have been the drink and drugs talking.
Another factor is likely to have been the increasing need for employers to show a legal duty of care towards all their staff. Even in the recent past a production team might have come under pressure to ignore problems with a bankable star; in the old days of showbiz, alcoholics and sexual abusers were routinely accommodated. Now, though, CBS might risk punitive lawsuits from colleagues who felt threatened or belittled by Sheen's actions or comments.
The star's ever more erratic behaviour may not affect his popularity with viewers. It helps that his character, Charlie Harper, is himself an unreliable drunk, so the clash between image and role is minimal. The question is whether the actor will ever be in a fit state to resume shooting.
If Sheen fails to provide the medical and legal guarantees that would allow him to continue in the series, the likelihood is that the show will try to go on for at least another season, either by recasting the central role or, more likely, by introducing a new main character played by someone else.
What is certain is that every step from now on, Sheen and CBS will be accompanied by at least two and a half lawyers. Some of the biggest fights are over legacies and no one will easily let go of an estate as rich as this.

Charlie Sheen needs to be committed or 'he may die,' says addiction expert

Brooke Mueller was apparenty with Sheen in the Bahamas for a time. (AP)

Is Charlie Sheen ready to go off the deep end, or did that ship already sail?
One addiction specialist reached by FOX411 is even fearing for Sheen's life after hearing the actor's radio rant on Thursday in which he went after the producer of "Two and a Half Men," Alcoholics Anonymous, and ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
“He’s holed up in the Bahamas with two porn stars, drinking and using drugs and thinking that he has everything under control. I just hope he doesn’t die,” Beverly Hills-based addiction expert Marty Brenner, who does not treat Sheen, tells FOX411. “It’s taken down bigger stars than him. There’s no way the body can last that long—your body has to give in. The body starts falling apart and deteriorating."
After hearing Sheen’s rambling interview with radio host Alex Jones, Brenner believes that the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star is still using drugs and alcohol.

“In that audio tape, does Charlie sound coherent, lucid? No. If it were up to me, I would send him to a doctor to get a brain scan to see what’s going on, what parts have been affected, and what needs to be rebuilt," Brenner said. “He sounds delusional. If you do that much cocaine, crack, drinking, pills, alcohol—and he’s done a combination of a lot of stuff—you lose your marbles. I’m being serious. That’s the only way I can really phrase it."
Sheen denied he was drinking or on drugs, telling gossip site RadarOnline.com he'd come over to their offices and have his blood and urine tested.
Brenner believes that Sheen needs to be committed to a medical facility—if and when he returns from the Bahamas.
“No one has really helped Charlie. He’s never had a consistent length of time where anybody has worked with him and his underlying issues—his anger. I mean, he did rehab at home—and that doesn’t work. It’s self-sabotage," Brenner said. "His issues need to be addressed by true professionals—a psychiatrist, a medical team, the whole nine yards. He should be put away on a 5150 hold.”
Sheen’s only hope may be his family.
“Look at Britney Spears—when her father took conservatorship, she got her act together,” explains Brenner. “No one has done that with Charlie. I hope his father intervenes and that he gets the help that he needs—otherwise, he may die.”

Dude has lost it. Seriously, he's gone totally off the rails. I don't think he's long for this world with the way he's been looking and acting lately. He looks like death warmed up.

Charlie Sheen: 'They've Awoken a Sleeping Giant'

By Elizabeth Leonard and Mike Fleeman
    Friday February 25, 2011 02:40 PM EST

Hold on, Hollywood: Charlie Sheen is just getting started.

In text messages to PEOPLE, the actor shows no sign of backing off his rants that led to CBS pull the plug on the rest of the Two and a Half Men production with concerns over his "statements, conduct and condition."

A defiant Sheen writes: "They have awoken a sleeping giant."

Texting from his Bahamas vacation, Sheen, 45, took particular issue with the reaction to his broadsides against the hit sitcom's creator, Chuck Lorre, whom Sheen referred to by his given last name, Levine.

The Anti-Defamation League says in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that Sheen's words were "at best bizarre, and at worst, borderline anti-Semitism."

Sheen counters that Lorre has referred to Sheen by his given name, Carlos Estevez.

"Does that make him anti-Spanish American or Latin American?" asks Sheen, adding he's considering suing The Hollywood Reporter for $100 million.

And it won't end there. "This," writes Sheen, "is me warming up."

As for whether Sheen feels misunderstood by Thursday's bizarre interviews, in which he also took aim at Alcoholics Anonymous, party girls, his estranged wife and even Thomas Jefferson, the star writes, "If I'm misunderstood after yesterday then people are worse off than I thought."

Oh now a lawsuit? On top of inventing a non-existant tv show w HBO called Sheens Corner? On top of Vatican assassins and gnarlingtons?

This is not going to end well. The guy is up to his eyeballs in delusions that he really seems to believe.

Yknow, I almost believe he is sober currently and that he's just mentally snapped.

He sounds so threatening and unhinged and deluded right now. I just hope he doesn't hurt anyone.

Can't u just picture the guy pacing in an angry crazy tirade as he texts all this crap to the media? So scary.
