I think Britney loves her kids in the same way a child loves an old toy. She plays with them/carries them around when they are new (at least in Sean's case) then tires of them after a while. If they are taken away she will throw a fit even though she has shown little interest in them lately.

Why are people saying it's a termination of parental rights? It's just a custody thing.

Mystery Witness Alleges Drug Use by Britney
Posted Sep 17th 2007 3:16PM by TMZ Staff
Filed under: Celebrity Justice, Britney Spears
Tony Barretto, a former bodyguard for Britney Spears, filed a declaration in the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline custody battle which alleges "nudity, drug use and safety issues post-rehab."
Gloria Allred, Barretto's attorney, said in a press conference today that Brit's former hired muscle was prepared to testify under oath today, but that neither the court nor Britney's attorneys chose to cross-examine him. She said his declaration went "unrefuted and unchallenged."
Barretto started working for Britney when she got out of rehab, and was fired on May 17 because, said Allred, "He did not hear her when he was asked to pick up her hat."
Barretto, himself the father of young children, came forward, Allred says, because while working for Britney, he became "very concerned" about the safety of her two boys.

I wonder if this is a credible witness. The drug allegation is a biggie.

"Secret Witness" Tony Makes Some Not-So-Credible Allegations
Brit's former bodyguard - whom we ID'd as Tony Barretto - made some pretty severe statements in the Brit/K-Fed custody war today. Attorney Gloria Allred released the following information in a statement:
"Tony was employed by Spears from the time she left rehab until May 17, 2007. He was in her home on a full-time basis, drove her to appointments, and observed her behavior inside of her home, outside of her home, and around her children. During that time, he became very concerned about the children and their safety.
Though he was reluctant to come forward and become embroiled in her cutody dispute, he did so because of his concern about the safetly and well-being of the children. He's a father of young children himself.
We appeared with our client this morning, who was prepared to testify and be cross-examined under oath, on his declaration which was filed with the court and was received as evidence in this case. We are shocked that Ms. Spears' attorneys chose not to cross-examine our client as to the substance of his declaration. Our client was prepared to testify on issues of nudity by Ms. Spears, drug use, and safety issues involving the children post-rehab. Neither the court nor Ms. Spears' attorneys chose to examine our client from the witness stand, regarding the particulars of his highly-explosive and relevant declaration; it stands unrefulted and unchallenged."
As X17 has previously reported, an X17 source says that Tony is not a credible witness, and Brit is not worried.
Stay tuned for more info coming up!

I don't know anything about CA family law. Why would Britney's lawyers opt not to cross-examine the witness? Is it to give the impression to the public that they don't consider him a credible witness? If so, I'm thinking the court is not the public, it's going to want some sort of response to the serious drug use charge, isn't it?

I just don't trust Gloria Allred. We keep hearing about his "explosive" testimony, but knowing her it all boils down to a big nothing. It probably lacks anything truly damaging and as usual she's trying this case in the media rather than in court.

Well, hopefully this custody battle won't end up as a media circus like all that Anna Nicole bullshit a couple months back. That's all I have left to say about this.

If he wasn't a credible witness, then why did her lawyers let his written testimony be entered without any challenges or cross-examination? Its like they admitted it as fact, without any kind of rebuttal.
I really, really hate X17. Are they on Britney's payroll or what?

Britney Will Lose Custody of Her Children
Britney Spears will temporarily lose custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James to ex-husband Kevin Federline, according to FOXNews.
The ruling giving K-Fed temporary custody of his and Brit’s kids is said to come from Los Angeles Family Court later Monday.
Earlier in the day, Britney was dropped by her management, The Firm, according to CelebTV.
Jeff Kwatinetz of The Firm (with Britney since August) reportedly is sick of Brit Brit “recent erratic behavior.” Her new album is scheduled to drop on November 13. No change in date has been made… yet.
Earlier Monday morning, Britney’s lawyer Laura Wasser bailed on her.
WOW! Three hits in one day. Lawyer, management and the kids! POOR BRIT BRIT!!!!!

Sources: Britney Spears Will Temporarily Lose Custody of Her Children
LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears will temporarily lose custody of her two toddler sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline, sources told FOXNews.com ahead of the official ruling expected later Monday.
Commissioner Scott Gordon will order the boys, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, turned over to Federline based on information that Los Angeles Family Court received over the weekend about Spears, the sources told FOXNews.com.
During Monday's custody hearing, Spears' former bodyguard accused the pop star of having "issues of nudity and drug use" since she returned from rehab, and reports of a planned "hit" on Federline emerged.
We had it first: click here to read FOX411's report on the 'secret witness'
The bodyguard's attorney, the high-profile Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred, said in a press conference Monday that Spears' attorney chose not to cross-examine the bodyguard, who has been described as a "secret witness" against Spears in her custody battle with Federline.
The bodyguard, Tony Barretto, filed a declaration in the custody battle which alleges "nudity, drug use and safety issues post-rehab."
Allred said Barretto was prepared to testify under oath Monday, but neither the court nor Spears' attorneys chose to cross-examine him. She said his declaration went "unrefuted and unchallenged."
Barretto started working for Spears when she got out of rehab, and was fired on May 17 because, Allred said, "He did not hear her when he was asked to pick up her hat."
Barretto, himself the father of young children, came forward because while working for Spears, he became "very concerned" about the safety of her two boys, according to Allred.
Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said he was in court Monday because of a declaration that had been filed by him and because he wanted to be available should his client be cross-examined.
The ruling giving Federline temporary custody of his and Spears' children was expected to be handed down in Los Angeles Family Court later Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, "Entertainment Tonight" reported that the FBI and the LAPD are investigating legitimate leads on a contract hit on Federline's life.
Multiple sources told "ET" that the FBI made attempts to contact Federline to inform him of the potential danger. The FBI reportedly told "ET" that the bureau could not confirm or deny an investigation.
TMZ.com said reports of an FBI investigation into a plot to kill Federline are completely untrue — but an LAPD investigation was conducted in the past.
According to LAPD, the department opened an investigation into a threat on Federline's life nearly two months ago, but the case was closed due to insufficient evidence.
TMZ also spoke with the L.A. spokesperson for the FBI, who blasted reports claiming that the FBI ever confirmed anything about a K-Fed investigation.
"The information on the Internet on these reports is not accurate. It did not come from the FBI at all," TMZ quoted the spokesperson as saying.
Spears married Federline in October 2004. She filed for divorce last November; it became official on July 30.
The two have had joint custody of sons Sean Preston, who turned 2 on Friday, and Jayden James, who turned 1 on Wednesday. Federline reportedly has been fighting to gain full custody of the two boys.
Kaplan said the custody battle would go on at least until the end of the year, and that two court dates were set, one in November and one in December.
He also said Federline is not seeking to modify his current monetary awards.
"All of these frenzied reports that he’s seeking custody related to money — they sound interesting but they’re not accurate," he said.
Spears gave a disastrous performance last week in her opening act at the MTV Video Music Awards, which was followed by more purported photos of her without underwear hitting the Internet.
She has an album due in stores on Nov. 13.

Think about what a disaster she's revealed herself to be that most people recognize the kids would be better off with douchebag than with her. I'm amazed it's taken this long for the authorities to get the kids out of there. Those boys would be in safer hands if they were left in the woods to be raised by wolves.

I really think they are. They are saying that SHE fired her lawyer and her management firm. They are cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

If he was so concerned why wait 4 months to report what he saw? This custody issue has been going on for months and he just now decides he saw something worth testifying about?

How do you know he didn't report it? Brit was recently investigated by Child Protection, it could have been him that made the report.
