    TMZ

    OLYMPIC SWIMMER
    Brandi Glanville's Racist Comment
    ISN'T ENTIRELY UNTRUE

"Real Housewives of Bev Hills" star Brandi Glanville wasn't exactly off-base when she "joked" about black people not being able to swim, 'cause the numbers show race is still an issue when it comes to drowning ... so says U.S. Olympic champ Cullen Jones.

Glanville ignited a firestorm on a recent episode of her reality show when one of her castmates revealed they couldn't swim and Brandi quipped, "You’re a black person!”

She later explained, "It was a joke, and my black friends would have laughed [like] crazy, because they don’t go in the pool because they will get their weaves f**ked up!"

But Cullen Jones -- 4-Time Olympic medalist and 1st African American to break a world record in swimming -- tells TMZ, "[Brandi's comments] seem to be more of a cultural indictment rather than a true studying of the facts, but it is true minorities need more access to lessons!"

"It is unfortunate that race is still an issue associated with drowning in the United States, but in many communities due to lack of access to water, training and funds, minorities are still disproportionately at risk to drown."

In fact, a recent study conducted by a University of Memphis professor shows there are some African-American women who refuse to learn how to swim because they are worried about having to get their straightened hair wet.

Still, Cullen says, "Drowning is preventable, we need to address the staggering numbers of unwanted deaths of our future Presidents, doctors, teachers and scientists."

Brandi Glanville Admits ‘I Did Not Hold It Together’ When My Hubby Cheated On Me With LeAnn Rimes
    Posted on Dec 13, 2013 @ 15:44PM | By Amber James

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville has come a long way since her husband’s affair made national headlines.

She said she still hasn’t completely healed from ex-hubby Eddie Cibrian cheating on her with LeAnn Rimes, and the outspoken reality star revealed she “did not hold it together” when she learned about his infidelity.

During her Podcast One show, Glanville fielded calls from fans – one of whom praised the single mom for “holding it together” after her very public divorce.

“Oh, honey, I did not hold it together,” Glanville told the caller.

“I think that you have to go through a dark time to come out of it. You have to mourn. I think time heals.”

Speaking about her two children with Cibrian, sons Jake and Mason Cibrian, Glanville revealed:

“Those little men saved my life.”

Four and a half years after the betrayal, Glanville said she’s dating but still has trust issues because of her ex’s infidelity.

“I’m working on myself,” she said.

“I have all these trust issues, and every time I’m dating someone and he’s not answering his cell phone, my head goes straight back to that place of not believing him or trusting him.”

Aside from her romantic life, Glanville also opened up about her RHOBH cast members, revealing her feud with Kyle Richards is over.

“It’s hard because our relationship has changed to much since we shot this season,” the 41-year-old model said, referring to their “bullygate” spat.

“I think she’s a good person. It took us a long time to be friendly. I don’t agree with all the ways she goes about handling things, but ultimately, I do like her now. We’re not like best friends, but we’re trying to get along right now.”

well she had to dredge it back up again now and remind everyone that her husband cheated on her, in the wake of her retarded comment on tv.

Ok, I will agree that the sympathy statue of limitations has long since passed (and this applies to LeAnn, Jenny A, etc. etc.) what should they reply with when asked a question?

I agree with MM. I don't think Brandi should be bringing this up but she's on a podcast taking calls, and she gets asked the question. What is she supposed to do / say? Actually, in this case, it wasn't even a question but someone complimenting her on how she handled it and her basically eschewing the compliment and saying, no, I didn't handle it well. I just don't see that as playing victim.

you think they don't screen the calls? of course the knew what the question was going to be, and she could have taken another call instead.

or she could take the call, and simply thank the chick and tell her that she's moved on and isn't dwelling on the past anymore.

As a company who prides itself on its core values of “Love All, Serve All,” SHRHC has decided to proceed with the planned party without Ms. Glanville’s appearance due to recent developments that include remarks towards African Americans made by Ms. Glanville on her hit Bravo TV show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

“Until this situation is behind her, our organization feels it’s best to reinforce our culture and values at this time, which consist of love and respect for all,” said President John Fontana.

I don't see what was wrong with what she actually said, and she was being honest.

I agree. If she'd thanked the chick, it would've seemed like tacit agreement that she handled the divorce well. Then everyone would have jumped on her for that.

And maybe she should've skipped the call, but wouldn't it have been someone else's job to screen them? Kind of like on the radio. She probably laid out a list of approved topics and they made a judgment call. The caller's comment was actually pretty innocuous. If this was the only call that got through about the divorce, then maybe she was trying to avoid discussing them.

In any case, she answered honestly. I can't fault her for that. Girl did not handle her divorce well.

She's losing paid gig (fired!) with Hard Rock. Will it wake her crass drunk ass up? Probably not. She thinks she's still 20 and a badass rapper ha!
