Stubbs kicks ass! Saw Parliament there with my fiance and it was the total shittake! I'm glad Brad and AJ didn't get any pref treatment for REM. I'm totally onboard with stylejunkiex on this, too.
I think that the answer is in here....Brangelina in Austin, but a no-show for R.E.M.

Now here's something we didn't expect to see at South by Southwest: none other than Angelina Jolie strolling down Congress Ave. (Austin's main drag) just like any of the other 50,000 out-of-towners who have descended on the Texas capital. There she was on Wednesday, walking sans Brad Pitt, who is also in Austin filming the new Terrence Malick film, Tree of Life (co-starring Sean Penn). EW.com has learned that Pitt requested several tickets to see SXSW's hottest opening night show, R.E.M. at Stubb's Wednesday night, but was told that the band had maxed out their guest list, and while they'd happily take care of the super-star couple, they couldn't accommodate a larger entourage. As far as we could tell, Pitt and Jolie didn't show after that. Brangelina in Austin, but a no-show for R.E.M. | Celebrity Couples, Film, Music Biz, South by Southwest | Hollywood Insider | EW.com

I don't really get this.....there are no "tickets" at a SXSW show. It doesn't work that way. But whatever.
Sigh, just hang out in Athens, GA for a while. REM shows up and gives random free shows in odd places all the time
/saw them in a bowling alley

It's crazy annoying cause can you imagine if you or I rocked up to an REM concert with no tickets and just said "hey, can you seat me and my crew somewhere please"... we'd get laughed outta there quick smart and yet these people just rock up and expect to be accomodated.
Such audacity.
vaya con dios
Why should those two get special treatment?
You will feel like killing me, I love Morrison too, but I found a new site where I can play. I'm a very overgrown kid...
You can go to the site, upload your pic and have fun, I'm the Queen of Sheba, too.
I tried to upload my pic on the Mona Lisa face hole, but it didn't work out.![]()

There's been a load of compromising
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where
The lights are shining on me
Maybe he thinks he's the Wichita County Lineman??

The dude's just a rhinestone cowboy - Riding out on a horse
In a star-spangled rodeo
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Getting cards and letters
From people I don't even know
And offers coming over the phone
Not that Jolie's the horse he rode in on or anything like that.

wasn't there a rumor some time ago that he liked to play cowboy or something like that when fooling around. LOL
Bands and stage performers almost always get tickets to give to friends at virtually any event. It's a common practice. A friend of mine is an actress here and I recently took my mother to see her play because she had performers' tix. I offered to pay, but she wanted us to take the free tix.
Ugh. Saw REM back on their Monster tour. They are without a doubt the worst live band I've ever seen. Shame, too because I love their early stuff up to Automatic for the People. Ironically, the opening band made REM look like amateurs. Who was it? Radiohead. Love me some Radiohead!
Wow...I'm not sure which surprises me more...REM sounding like crap live or Radiohead opening for them.
When I was working for a little ragmag in Houston I once had the opportunity to interview Radio Head...or thought I did. But though they agreed to the interview and left me tickets and a backstage pass at the office, the completely brushed off two other writers and myself. They were very into themselves (not that they don't have the talent to justify a little snobbery)...I am just surprised they would take second billing to REM. Was this before or ater OK Computer?
I also really enjoy REMs live set; perhaps you saw them on a bad night? Or I've had uncommon luck seeing them on good nights![]()

I saw REM back in 1997 or 1998, not sure and they SUCKED. It was one of the suckiest concerts I've ever been to, utterly boring. It turned me off the band too.
*adds crap taste in music to reasons to hate Brangelina*
