Check out her ring! Benedict Cumberbatch and fiancée Sophie Hunter make their official red carpet debut in NYC following surprise engagement

Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter made their official red carpet debut at the Manhattan premiere of The Imitation Game on Monday.

The 36-year-old theatre director seemed a bit shy about showcasing the large-stoned ring the 38-year-old Emmy winner gave her.

The Sherlock heartthrob smiled with pride as he wrapped his arm around his future bride wearing a floral-embroidered maxi-gown.

Here comes the bride and groom to be! Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter made their official red carpet debut at the Manhattan premiere of The Imitation Game on Monday

New bling: Sophie - a Samuel Beckett Award winner -flashed her new diamond

The Hammersmith-born couple announced their engagement November 5 with an old-fashioned eight-line, £324 advert in London's newspaper The Times.

Benedict and Sophie first met as co-stars on the 2009 set of Burlesque Fairytales, but they did not begin dating until earlier this year.

'It's a crazy old love bomb to drop,' Cumberbatch recently said of his happy news to the AP.

Hearts break all around the world: Fans got a first glimpse of Sophie's ring at the premiere

'And the amount of love that comes back to you, that was the thing that we are both just sort of bowled over by. It's wonderful.'

But despite the passionate fan reactions, the Penguins of Madagascar star told E! News that 'the only support I really need, to be honest, is the woman I love who I proposed to.'

And Benedict has even offered a few reassuring words for the horrified 'Cumberbitches' recoiling at his upcoming nuptials.

'I have a great population of fans as well — they're smart, they'll get around to the idea. Your ovaries do still have use, let me tell you!' the Golden Globe nominee said on Live! With Kelly And Michael.

England's former most eligible bachelor smiled: 'I'm very happy. I'm a very happy man.'

Sophie - a Samuel Beckett Award winner - appears to have left acting behind in favour of directing experimental plays and operas.

The brunette Oxford graduate is quite accomplished, being fluent in French and a highly-skilled pianist and equestrian.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch has been receiving Oscar buzz for his brilliant portrayal of WWII Enigma codebreaker Alan Turing, who was prosecuted for being gay by the government he helped save.

Well she sounds smart and interesting. He's doing a Clooney, although Sophie's a wee bit less glamorous than Amal.

Not that I imagined he would ever marry a Kardashian, but wasn't he seeing Dakota Johnson?

I don't think they were every dating. She's been in a long term relationship with a fellow C0$. I think it was one of those they were just photographed together.

Yeah it might have only been dinner. Any association with Dakota Johnson is worthy of a side-eye though. She kind of IS the Kardashian of acting. Famous because of her family, has a trashy mother, starring in a porno.

He and Dakota Johnson are both in that upcoming movie about Whitey Bulger and had lunch together one time while filming in Boston. There were other people there and she had a boyfriend at the time. It was just a group lunch thing, they were never dating.

Keira Knightley Calls Benedict Cumberbatch's Cumberbitches Terrifying - Us Weekly

Keira Knightley Calls Benedict Cumberbatch's "Cumberbitch" Fans "Terrifying"
Entertainment Nov. 20, 2014 AT 9:25AM By Madeline Boardman

The Beliebers and Directioners may have some serious competition with a rising new fan base. British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has found himself with a fierce group of supporters in the so-called "Cumberbitches," and according to one of his costars, they are not to be messed with.

Keira Knightley, who acts alongside Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game, opened up to Seth Meyers on Late Night about her colleague's loyal fans.

"You got to work with Benedict Cumberbatch, who you worked together with eight years ago," Meyers, 40, began, referencing 2007's Atonement. "You've really seen the explosion of how ladies have lost their minds."

    "The Cumberbitches," Knightley, 29, prompted.

"They've become a thing!" Meyers exclaimed.

The Begin Again star noted that the fans are much more than a "thing" these days.

"It's terrifying," she admitted. "I mean, they're lovely. I feel terrified saying they're terrifying cause they might come after me. So… yes, it's amazing! They're very artistic! They paint pictures of him. You go to premieres and there's these amazing paintings of Ben looking Ben-like… [They're] a very hysterical, artistic type."

Unfortunately for the Cumberbitches, the swoon-worthy star is now off the market.

Cumberbatch, 38, announced earlier this month that he is engaged to his theater director and actress love Sophie Hunter. Despite his unavailability, the star's fans haven't wavered.

"I actually had a really embarrassing moment at the London premiere, because — they really do — they scream more than I've ever heard for anyone else, but I had a publicist with me and she went, 'You know, go sign some autographs,'" Knightley explained. "I went over there and went 'Oh yeah, of course, of course, no problem!' And they were like, 'Oh no, we don't want you. We're just here for Ben.'"

Watch Knightley give her two cents on the Cumberbitches in the video above!

I'll have to show that to the other half. He has an unreasonable hatred of Bendylegs Cummerbitch (as he calls him) and is suffering because he wants to see The Imitation Game because he's fascinated by Alan Turing's work but can't stand a couple of hours of Cummerbitch.

Maybe this should just become the "make (potentially obscene) plays on Benedict Cumberbatch's name" thread.

Bendydick Cuminbatches was the most recent one I saw out there, I think.

And Bandycoot Crumblysnatch! WUV. That one's my favorite. Crumblysnatch. hahahaha
