I'll ask my husband about it again. He heard about this from people who actually work in the Showroom (where the concert was held)....
I cannot remember exactly what the issue was w/the wheelchair, but was something extremely stupid.....
No one knows, not even the bloggers said anything I think. I agree with Flak also. Plus, Art himself specifically made it a point that he's not trying to be unfair towards the handicapped, so I'm thinking somehow maybe it was disruptive behavior. Still waiting for the whole shebang.
Ok, apparently the person in the wheelchair was mentally handicapped as well and was making noise. He was distracting to Art.
if some handicapped person in a chair is squawking and making noise then yeah, escort his 4 wheel drive ass OUT
same as a baby in a theatre.
I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.
Yeah but can't they do that without Art stopping the frikin show to point it out to everyone?
You'd think as long as he's been in the biz and performing he'd be able to tune out anything short of having something thrown at his head while playing.

I agree. I couldn't imagine bringing my adult mentally handicapped child to such an event. Many of the noises he makes are uncontrollable and to expect the artist and the audience to overlook it is ridiculous and unfair to everyone involved.
I think it would have been far classier for Art to have taken a break between songs and let some security know that so-and-so in the front row needed to go instead of making a spectacle.
But hey, I wasn't there so who knows...
If someone is that disruptive and lacking self-control it's pretty stupid to take them to a show anyway IMO.

I happened to meet Art Garfunkle many moons ago when he was promoting a band at the club I hung around in.
He sat at the table next to mine as I supped beer, and he was about the nicest person I ever met. He really was.
Some people were coming up to Art Garfunkle and asking him for autographs, saying, "It's for my mother", or "It's for my aunt, the old one".
He could have been offended and told the autograph seekers to make like the birds and flock off...but he didn't.
He was lovely, and he signed everything.
I don't buy this story.
That's the way he came across at the concert. People were yelling things out to him and he would answer with a funny remark. He gave an easy, relaxed performance. The man has been performing since the mid-50's so I don't buy that he would unprofessional enough to have a hissy fit with a disabled person.
Also, he plays small venues because the acoustics are so much better suited to his voice and music. He sings many of his songs a cappella.I'll stop now, I'm beginning to sound like a fantard, lol.
I hope he wasn't being a diva when he had the disabled person removed.
