Johnny and his family are far too classy for them. Honestly, I have this mental image of Johnny listening to them drone on about all their "humanitarian" affairs while making crazy eyes at his wife and gracefully making an exit. He doesn't like the limelight and I cannot see these two couples ever being friends. He doesn't try to be something that he's not, he just goes with the flow. Plus, I'm not sure if he'll show up, and if he does, it will be without his kids. He takes good care to make sure his kids are out of the public eye and not photographed whenever possible.

My folks had a drinks party for the locals too, I don't think its that strange. My take is that they might have asked the Mayor for assistant & he said, well, it's traditional... blah blah blah.. house-warming party....

Sluce - that was something that freaked me out when I lived in the US, I was used to being the one throwing the party, but Americans are amazing sometimes! Esp when one has just moved house! We had a complete stranger help us move furniture - he was saw us moving & stopped to help!

That's the thing for me, too, he looks dirty. Although the very thing I like about him is that he never seems to have bought into the Hollywood image bs, he seems to be genuinely down-to-earth in that sense. Of course, it helps to look as nice as he does underneath that dirty veneer...and it is only dirt, it can be cleaned up real nice!
