so sad. i remember him from the cure and kids or bully or one of those type of movies. i was kinda hoping this was one of those false death reports but it doesn't look that way.
another article said he's been drinking with friends the night before but they're still waiting on test results to determine if it played a role in his death.

he had talent. and he wasn't an attention whore. and he wasn't flashing his crotch at the paps and doing fake british accents on tmz. basically, he wasn't a talentless white trash loser like brit-brit. to be honest, it pisses me off that an imbecile waste of air like britney is still alive, and a talented actor like renfro is dead.

i loved him in 'apt pupil' and also in larry clark's brilliant 'bully', which i think wasn't shown much in the US, it was mostly a success in europe.

I can't say I'm surprised, he'd fucked up his life lately. He blew me away in the Apt Pupil. Haven't seen him in much else but that one performance was amazing. It's sad but his career and good looks were mostly over already, anyway.

Not so fast.

First off, This kid is actually dead..so of course the tone is going to be different, just like it WILL be when one of the female drugtards inevitably kicks the bucket. If this was just another arrest, commentary would be ALOT harsher.

Also this kid DID face serious consequences for his shit..actual jail time..he was not 'getting away with it' -and that is what pisses people off about Parasite, Britney, LaLohan, etc. They repeatedly get a slap on the wrist. This kid did not get a slap on the wrist-he got serious consequences-and deserved them.

And while it may be due to his own failed attempts, or due to the paps not caring, but he was not shoving his shit in our faces every day, reminding us of how he was getting away with it all(even though he was NOT getting away with it all.

Also, this kid does not have small children (ala Brit) who he was again and again abusing, neglecting, etc. -alot of the Brit anger is related to this. A reason I think there is so much more anger towards Brit than towards a Parisite or even a Lohan-at least they are only hurting themselves(when not driving insane/on drugs wearing other people's pants..that is..

^^I sort of get what you're saying but I still think he's getting a bit of a pass. I mean, this board is littered with comments wishing/hoping some of the young lasses you mentioned would die. I'm not convinced the tone would change if any of them actually did. As far as him shoving himself in our faces, I don't think the paps hound the male starlets the way they do the females and I don't think he was nearly as well known as some of the people you mentioned. I vaguely knew the name but couldn't have placed him in a movie until now. I mean, here is a comment that I've made about several of our favorite train wrecks:

^^ I think that because of the things I have mentioned there is alot less residual anger towards someone like him. And yeah I kind of see what you are saying..that we can only be disgusted and angered over what we see..what is available to us. You just know that there are untold numbers of spoiled rich kids/young adults getting away with the same shit that the celebutards are..we just do not know about it. The higher the visibility of the celebutard, the greater the knowledge of what they are getting away with, and the greater the animosity. and yeah they do seem to go after the women more(paps and all)..but whose fault is that? They only go after what sells, right? (note the 'Britney Economy' post in the Brit thread). Plus most of these young women celebutards like the coverage..encourage it, or even create it!(Brit calling the paps and letting them know her intentions, etc.)

I think they love it when things are going well but when things aren't, they're not happy about it. And sure, you make your bed and have to lie in it. But on the other hand, we all tend to ask why they don't go under the radar but when some try to it doesn't really work out very well. Anyway, I just think it's sad when anyone dies and it's sad he had a fucked up family and a fucked up childhood and people around him who used him, but I think that about alot of the young celebs right now. I don't think they stand half a chance.

The difference between the sympathy and condolences people are expressing towards this young man and the hate-filled ramblings and wishes of a sudden death towards these waste of life hollywood whores (a.k.a. Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Tara Reid) is that Brad Renfro was actually talented and had so much potential. If he had gotten his act together he could have been a huge A lister playin' with the big boys...

I honestly believe he had that potential in him...

And as other people have been saying, he wasn't constantly shoved down our throats or in the tabloids daily, weekly or monthly or seen driving drunk with the result of spending like 85 minutes or less in jail as 'punishment'.

Yes, he was screwed up and did a lot of stupid things but he did his time. He was never quoted bitching about it, he never attempted to use his celebrity status to weasle out of anything and his legal troubles were never broadcast as actual 'news' coverage worthy of showing non-stop on CNN...

And his various run ins with the law seemed to have been working in terms of encouraging him to get clean...unlike all of these whores who just laugh about it and continue on with their ways...

And as horrible as it seems, I kind of agree that it is f*cked up that someone with as much potential and talent as Brad had is gone while these white trash, waste of life bimbos are still out walking the earth believing that all lower life forms should bow down to them and praise the ground they walk on...

EDIT: Also he seemed very genuinely, sincere and I've heard that in real life he was a really nice, down to earth guy...
