Matt Dillon has pleaded not guilty to a Dec. 30 excessive speeding charge, reports the Associated Press.
The actor was arrested for allegedly driving 106 mph -- 41 mph faster than the 65 mph speed limit -- on Interstate 91 in Newbury, Vermont.
Lawyer Mark Kaplan entered the plea for Dillon -- who did not appear in court Wednesday -- and said he hoped the case could be resolved without a trial.
Court documents say Dillon, 44, was cooperative and apologetic after being stopped by police.
If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail and be fined $1,000.
