Thumbs down Mathew Knowles about Beyonce’s new release

Singersroom Celebs » Blog Archive » Quote: Mathew Knowles About Beyonce’s New Release

Beyonce’s new album “I Am … Sasha Fierce” is expected to land at the number one position on next week’s Billboard charts and poppa Knowles is predicting bigger:

“I think we’ll sell 750,000 to 1 million copies [in the] first week. I know that’s ambitious with the declining market, but Beyoncé is so focused on transitioning from pop star to icon that we’re paying attention to every single detail.”
There is something creepy and controlling about him. Nothing wrong with having your father be your manager, but they usually get fired once their child grows into their own (Michael in Off The Wall, Janet in Control, etc).

I said both Janet and Michael left their fathers as managers when they became adults and moved on... did you get my point? ...or did you just see their names and started to laugh. Beyonce is about 26 or 27 and still has her father controlling her career. I'd like to see how well she does without him.

I read that Beyonce was predicted to sell 500-550,000 copies of her new album. Looks like Daddy Knowles was a little off with his prediction

The arrogance of Beyonce and her father is astounding. You don't try to become an icon. You become an icon through respect for your work. I don't see Beyonce ever becoming an icon - she's only marginally talented and her material is weak and unoriginal.

She always referred to her 'stage persona' as Sasha. I guess now she added fierce. I betcha it was from Tyra.

I so fucking hate that. When have you EVER heard an artist strive to be an icon?! You don't do that, try to achieve it or be your ultimate goal. The public makes and determines the artist as an icon!!

    She is so...ugh.

As far as I can call it, you can't become an icon if you're not even remotely close to being a spec of original/unique. She's always doing a 'tribute' or 'inspired' by something in her music videos (how much can you possibly steal from Fosse play already?!) or something. Example: Prince and MJ are obviously heavily influenced by James Brown, but you can distinguish the two from not only each other nor James Brown himself. Whenever she tries to 'reinvent' herself or try something 'different' it just looks forced.

'Single Ladies' and 'If I Were A Boy' (a song she stole, by the way) sound like unreleased material from B'day.

sorry for the 2:49AM mumbo jumbo...

I thought she had already fired him as her manager a few years ago.
