DJ AM: How Plane Crash May Have Saved My Life - Adam Goldstein : People.com
DJ AM may have cheated death twice. While being treated for burns sustained during a plane crash, he learned of a potentially fatal blood clot in his leg.
"In the burn center, they did a scan and found that I had a blood clot that in this flight could have traveled to my heart and I could have died," DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein), tells PEOPLE.
Goldstein, 35, says the clot was a result of his frequent flying to his various deejaying residencies at clubs nationwide. He currently has almost 2 million frequent flier miles.
While at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in August, Ga., doctors put a filter in his vein and prescribed blood-thinning medication to prevent complications related to the clot.
"I have a great deal of faith that everything happens for a reason," he says. "I put myself in God's hands."

Absolutely!! I think it's commendable that he has managed to find a positive spin on it.
Gotta love DJ AM. I love his humility even though he's famous- more celebs should be like him.
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life. It goes on.

Wow, that is amazing. Guess its true, everything does happen for a reason!
That's scary, as I hardly ever get up from my seat during long international flights. My legs are so cramped, perhaps it's better to get up and move about.
whoah! thats so fucking frightening, the whole incident is sad and scary![]()
i feel for the guy, i really do, he must feel so grateful for his life and yet so guilty for the death of those 4 others.

Move Around on Long Flights to Prevent Blood Clots : NPR
To make that possible in the confines of an economy class seat, Northwest Airlines introduces its trans-continental passengers to flight attendants who are dressed in exercise clothes.
During a short video, the flight attendant demonstrates a simple technique to promote circulation. Passengers are told to flex their toes back and then point them forward.
As simple as it sounds, Heit says this is what he does when he flies, and it's really all that's needed.
"It keeps the blood moving in the veins and lowers the predisposition for the blood to clot," Heit says. "So yes, at this point I think it's the most useful recommendation."
Moving your legs about every two hours is the general advice. Rosendaal says that in order to do this, people really need to be awake. Cat naps, he says, are OK.
Lots of people have clots in their legs and do or don't know it and never die from them. And not all people who have a clot dislodge and travel die (though it can be dangerous).
Nowadays when they do find em you get yourself an IVC filter and you're good to go.
