Her Outfit Cost As Much As A House!!!!
Filed under: Fashion Smashion > John McCain
It's nice to see that the wife of our potential future President knows how to spend money wisely!
Cindy McCain and First Lady Laura Bush caught the attention of many when they were spotted on stage Tuesday night at the RNC looking tres chic.
While the Republicans try to make Barack Obama and his family seem like the "celebs" of the political world, John McCain is supposed to represent the "real working Americans, like Levi “F-in’ Redneck” Johnston."
Though that wasn't the case with McCain's wife!
Cindy and Laura were spotted wearing outfits worth thousands of dollars. And throw in the cost of Cindy's jewelry and her outfit is worth more than many peoples' houses!
Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, though. They can afford it, but maybe they got it for free?
Probably not!
Thanks to Vanity Fair, we know how an idea of how much their outfits probably costs. Check out the estimates:
Laura BushWe hope McCain can budget the nation's spending money better than he can budget his wife's spendings.

Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325

WTF? That's ridiculous...
No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world
LOL! I love it. Now they can't spend the money they earned as they see fit?
Laura's suit is looking at little St. John-ish, but I think De La Renta has dressed her almost exclusively for the past few years.. he made her her second inaugural wardrobe and I think he even made Jenna's wedding dress.
Regardless, these bitches shouldn't get a fucking wardrobe budget... typical American my ass.
What's it matter, how they dress? It doesn't stop them from looking like the crypt keeper.
IMHO ... BOTH of them dress poorly! One of them just has more money to do so ...
It's different if it's THEIR money.. in this case, if I understand it correctly, the first lady gets a budget for her wardrobe. The typical American doesn't get a small fortune to spend on diamonds and pantsuits... I just think this isn't representative of the frugal state of living the masses find themselves living in. Not that I'm saying they should shop at Walmart, but $300K for an outfit--a fugly one at that-- is more than a little extreme.
ETA: I know in this scenario Cindy didn't get a budget.. or at least, I dont think senators wives get wardrobe budgets.. but if she were the first lady it would be a gross display of wealth allocated just for the sake of appearances
The wardrobe allowance thing for first ladies is a myth. They get a household allowance, dishes, crystal, etc.
Oscar gives Laura Bush a big big discount, as she gets a lot of free press....just like hollywood celebs
Cindy McCain is spending her money. She is not the first lady, and not entitled to any allowances even if they existed.
All of God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.
...and Michelle Obama and her liberal buddies only shop at Target and K-Mart. Where's the outraged write up of her wardrobe expenses????
Who here hasn't spent extra money on a nice outfit for a special occasion? Give me a break.
Dont turn this into a liberal-conservative debate. The fact remains that these women shouldn't be spending such outrageous amounts of money on clothes.
If you prefer, I'll dig up shit on Michelle's expenditures to make it more "fair and balanced".
For the record, Cindy probably charges all this shit on one of her several charge cards..
