Smile Wallace and Gromit in advertising campaign for Harvey Nichols

He's famous for his green tank top, red tie and a penchant for tea, toast and Wensleydale cheese.
But now it seems that maverick inventor Wallace – who is also a champion of the string vest – is making an unlikely bid to be a style icon, along with his faithful sidekick Gromit.

The Plasticine pals have donned designer outfits to star in a new advertising campaign for fashionable store Harvey Nichols.
Wallace is pictured for the campaign looking suave with trendy designer sunglasses perched on his head and with his hands in the pockets of an Alexander McQueen navy cashmere and silk suit. He also wears a Dolce & Gabbana fitted white shirt and a Giorgio Armani tie.

Next to him, Gromit wears his usual hangdog expression, set off against a cool navy silk Paul Smith scarf knotted around his neck.
In another shot for the campaign, Wallace, looking as if he has been a model all his life, is pictured in repose, sporting a woollen Prince of Wales check suit by Paul Smith.
Gromit has on a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses – the type more often seen on stylish stars such as Kate Moss – and a purple-striped silk scarf by Duchamp.
However, fans of the dynamic duo, stars of the Oscar-winning films The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave, don’t have to worry that their heroes have had their heads turned by Hollywood.
Bosses at Harvey Nichols chose the pair as the faces of a new store they are opening in Bristol, where Wallace and Gromit were created by animator Nick Park.
They will appear in their finery on posters and in magazine adverts in the run-up to the store’s opening next month.
Also in the campaign is Lady Campanula Tottington, Wallace’s love interest from the last film, Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, which also won an Oscar.
She wears a black draped dress by Alexander McQueen, fabulous red patent shoes by Christian Louboutin and a metallic bronze ‘Puffy’ bag by Zagliani.
Arthur Sheriff, spokesman for Nick Parks’s Aardman films, said: ‘We were approached by Harvey Nichols because they wanted a worldwide icon from the Bristol area. We were immensely flattered. We think Wallace, Gromit and Lady Tottington look fantastic.’

Fantastic! I love Wallace and Gromit. I'd far rather see them than some generic models.
