I know you and I live close to each other, sluce. Not to derail the thread, but have you heard that PA is changing its mandatory reporting requirements? As of Dec. 31st mandatory reporters will now have to report if someone discloses past abuse, not just current abuse. I, of course, agree with your posts. There are plenty of people, juveniles and adults, in sex offender therapy and this law will just make it less likely that people will disclose anything in treatment. People cannot get the help that they need if they don't feel comfortable opening up in therapy, and if therapy is unsuccessful we are setting up a situation where there will be more victims of abuse. This also crosses over to victims, I can see victims not getting therapy either if they know their therapist has to report past abuse. Some victims do not want to be a part of the criminal justice system and this change in reporting to some extent may mandate their participation. I think it's terrible. I am losing sleep over the change in reporting requirements, and how it will affect the people I work for and with.
