Default Dave Coulier on 'You Oughta Know', being about him

    Uncle Joey on Alanis

In case you didn't know, Full House's Uncle Joey, comedian Dave Coulier was the inspiration for Alanis Morissette's legendary breakthrough song, You Oughta Know.
    Now,he's finally talking about it!

In a new interview, Coulier reveals where he was when he first heard the song and how he eventually patched things up with his 'angry' ex:
Coulier was driving when he first heard it. "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry.' And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.' . . . I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, 'I think I have really hurt this person.' I tried to contact her and I finally got a hold of her. And at the same time, the press was calling and saying, 'You want to comment on this song?' I called her and I said, 'Hi. Uh, what do you want me to say?' And she said, 'You can say whatever you want.' We saw each other and hung out for an entire day. And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, 'We're good.' "
We never would have pegged Uncle Joey as such a heartbreaker!

Him being on that stupid Full House show, AND being the most irritating part of it, is enough to warrant his grisly murder.

Just think about what this says about Alanis. Who would have thought she would stoop to singing songs about Uncle Joey?

It doesn't bother me at all that she wrote this song about him. To me, it just shows that she's someone who was/is into having real relationships with "real" or at least average-looking people instead of pursuing image and glamour.

And his jackassness shows you don't have to be a hottie to act like a jerk--as most of us have probably experienced in our non-Hollywood lives.

Somehow after all these years I think it's kind of cute that this annoying twerpy kind of guy was the subject of the song. One of the biggest songs of the 1990s, a song a lot of young women identified with--and it was inspired by this clown? It sort of puts life in perspective.

Plus it shows how some artists take their personal experiences and turn them into something bigger, something dramatic that everyone can relate to. YMMV.
