The effects of old age won't be a concern for Alanis Morissette.
Don't count on seeing the singer, who says she "notices new things" about her body every month, searching for a fountain of youth. Instead Morissette plans to embrace her body’s transformation.
"I'm fascinated by aging and how a woman's body changes," Morissette, 34, tells Women's Health's September issue.
"I don't want to spend the next 50 years of my life trying to hide those changes. There's something very relaxing about watching it unfold instead of fighting it the whole way."
While she watches her body evolve, Morissette has stayed physically fit by adding triathlete to her resume.
"It was amazing to use my body as an instrument rather than as an ornament," Morissette says of the swim-run-bike competition.
When she's not flexing her competitive muscle, the self-described cross-trainer likes versatility in her exercise regimen. While touring to promote her new album Flavors of Entanglement. Morissette, a fan of kickboxing and dance, counts basketball and volleyball as her favorite sports.
"Doing the same thing every day is not right for my temperament," she says.
In between triathlons and her music career will Morissette, who split from Ryan Reynolds last year, have time for marriage and a family?
Both are on her list of lifetime goals.
"I want to go to Laos and do a show in Russia and get married and have kids," she says. "Maybe even adopt a kid. I'd like to live somewhere in the middle of nowhere for a while – maybe in a forest or on an ocean bluff."

She doesn't need to fight for anything.
She's already got something you rarely see these days that will probably only get better with age. Actual talent.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one. I've heard her sing and I think she's absolutely terrible.

She's 34 and they are talking about "the effects of old age" on her? This seems a bit stupid to me...
Plus, she's a frigging singer, not a top model, why would her career be damaged by ageing?
Oh, yes, because on MTV you don't need to sing, but you need to look good...

Her singing is horrendous. It's more like screeching and squawking. Her voice is simply godawful and she cannot carry a tune. She may have some talent as a songwriter, but I just cannot get past the fingernails-on-a-chalkboard vocals.

Good for her. I hope she can continue to resist the pressure to be thin and pretty. When all these pop tarts lose their only talent of looking pretty, Alanis will still be at the top of her game because real talent lasts.
