Reese Witherspoon laid down the law before boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal moved into her $5 million L.A. home last month.
The 'Legally Blonde' actress reportedly has a set of ground rules in place which the Brokeback Mountain star has to follow.
A source tells America's Star magazine, "Reese believes in wide-open communication, and she discussed at length with him what is best for her household.
"Some of [the things she insists on] are run-of-the-mill. He has to take off his shoes when he’s in the house; trash must be taken out when the can is three-quarters full; and no feet on the coffee table."
And then there's a set of rules designed to provide an appropriate environment for Reese’s children, 8-year-old Ava and 4-year-old Deacon. For instance, Jake must watch his language.
"Jake used to swear like a sailor, but not anymore," the source said. "If he does, he has to apologize."
The pair are also said to have daily discussions around the dinner table and consultations with each other before making plans for dinner, home décor or even yoga sessions.
As for Jake, the insider says he's had his fill of the single life and couldn't be happier with family life.
"He’d much rather stay home, make popcorn and watch a movie than step foot in a club," the insider assured. "So when he was looking for a girlfriend, he looked for someone who was past all that — and he found her in Reese."

That said, I agree completely about rules concerning her children, whatever they may be. They are her children and any man wanting to be in her life should have to follow her directions when it comes to them.

She takes her kids to church and she seems kind of morally uptight. I highly doubt she'd have any guy living with her and her children.

Also, there was a story a while ago about Ryan being a bit annoyed that Jake was hanging around his kids. Now Jake is supposedly living with his kids and he hasn't said a word?

The whole thing just doesn't jive.

She was very pregnant when she married Ryan so she's not that morally uptight. Also, something tells me, Ryan doesn't have a lot to say seeing that he's involving his kids with his live- in. This story sounds like BS to me.

Well, some people really change after having kids, especially if they start doing the church thing. And she did marry Ryan. They didn't just shack up. I still don't see her living with Jake ... I've never believed they were ever romantically involved. Friends, yes. Lovers, absolutely not.

I wasn't aware Ryan and Abbie were living together. I knew they were dating, but I haven't heard anything beyond that.

get outta my head; i was going to say the same thing. actually, i'll take it a step further & say that i am not really comfy on the couch, unless my feet are on the coffee table. we're a no shoes house...no shoes on the coffee table seems like a reasonable rule to me.
