^^I'm in no way saying that a rapist should get a free pass BUT I'm just trying to prove that society has a huge double standard when it comes to female on male violence vs male on female. This was an especially heinous case.

I don't believe she did anything wrong. I feel what you are saying, but I don't feel there was a crime in cutting off his penis.

^ Um, she was charged with malicious wounding so that's not the issue.

Was I the arresting or charging officer. I said that I didn't feel that there was a crime in cutting off his penis!(meaning, I don't think she did anything WRONG!) If I was the Sheriff and/or DA she would've never been charged. She was found not guilty due to mental defect...her time has been served!

^^I respect your opinion but you can't be serious? So cutting off a penis is not a crime? Let's be rational...so cutting off genitals "in your eyes" should not be punishable by law? I don't believe that you really feel that way.

So if a woman verbally and emotionally abuses her husband, does he have the right to cut off her clitoris? Seriously, most women who are raped don't snap to the point of grabbing a knife from the kitchen, going into the bedroom, and hacking off her husband's penis, then getting into the car and driving to a field to throw it away. I barely remember the details, but I don't know if she took the time to tie him up so he couldn't fight back.
Seriously, if this were the other way around, the woman with her clit sliced off would be looked at as a victim, no matter how many times she slapped her husband around.

For me, her credibility was shot all to hell when I heard that she complained after her arrest that he always had an orgasm, but never waited for her to have one. Let's see if I can find a quote.
Oh yes, here.
Lorena Bobbitt Acquitted In Mutilation of Husband - New York Times
"He always have orgasm and he doesn't wait for me to have orgasm," she told a police lieutenant hours after the incident. "He's selfish. I don't think it's fair, so I pulled back the sheets then and I did it."
Women who are raped don't usually complain that it is over too quickly.
I never bought this "temporary insanity" crap. It's usually a crock anyway, and TheONe and sparkly are right- had it been a man that did it to a woman, he'd have been convicted for sure.
It's nervy of her to complain about John profitting from the incident.

No matter what sort of violence occurrs in a relationship no one has the right to mutilate or cut off another person's genitals. PERIOD.
John may have been a scumbag, but the fact Lorena wasn't fluent in English wasn't a free pass to cut off his penis. Even if the guy's a jerk and doing you wrong, that's totally unacceptable. You don't torture or mutilate someone because they hurt your feelings, cheat on your or make you angry....and being a Spanish speaker doesn't make you an idiot and definitely not incapable of knowing what's criminally (and morally) correct. No woman on the face of this earth has the right to chop off a man's penis just like no man has the right to cut off a woman's clitoris or breasts. If they do, the same needs to be done to them. No excuses.

while i completely understand her reason for cutting off his dick, she was not right in doing so. it is against the law. English being a barrier, does not give her a right to do it either. Yes, he's proven to be a scumbag, but it still does not give her the right. While none of us can say we know how it feels, the law is still the law. the law still protects assholes like him, just as it protects her. yes it sucks.
