Will they or won't they? Lawyers for CHRISTIE BRINKLEY and PETER COOK met at a hearing this morning in New York Supreme Court to discuss whether or not their divorce trial will be open to the public and the press. Lawyers for news media also had an opportunity to file motions for or against the notion.
According to Newsday, law guardian THERESA A. MARI was expected to argue that the former supermodel's two younger children would be harmed by press exposure to certain facts of the case, which may begin as early as next month.
The custody, visitation rights and child support of the couple's two young children, SAILOR, 9, and JACK, 12, are at stake. Jack, who was adopted by Cook, is Brinkley's son from her previous marriage to RICHARD TAUBMAN. Brinkley also has a 22-year-old daughter, ALEXA RAY JOEL, with first husband BILLY JOEL.
After a decade of marriage, Brinkley filed for divorce from Cook after she learned that he was having an alleged affair with his 18-year-old assistant, DIANA BIANCHI, in the summer of 2006.

The kid is called Sailor in honor of Peter Cook's famous ancestor, Captain Cook of the South Pacific. I think if CB was the type to be a blabbermouth, than you would have seen it in the divorce from Billy Joel. How much of a fame whore is he? We know he's a slut....

I don't nec think she does, but the law guardian for the children is wanting it private to protect them. Maybe divorces are normally open to the public so this is what they need to do to make a motion, etc to have it sealed?

I know that parts of various other divorces are sealed - in the Sheen/Richards all child related parts are sealed; and practialy all of the Spears/Federline one was....

Former model Christie Brinkley has reportedly asked a New York court to make her divorce from Peter Cook public - to expose his behaviour during their marriage.

Brinkley made the request at New York Supreme Court on Thursday (19Jun08), according to Access Hollywood.
Sources tell the news show Brinkley is still upset with Cook two years after she initially filed for divorced over his alleged affair with a then-18-year-old assistant.
Among the details of the divorce is the allegation Cook trawled the internet for women and porn, Access Hollywood claims.
Cook and a law-appointed guardian for the couple's two young children are thought to be fighting the request.
The divorce case heads to trial in New York on 2 July (08).
