Tony Romo grew a pair and dumped Jessica Simpson

TMZ has learned that the romance between Jessica Simpson and hotshot QB Tony Romo is as dead as the Cowboys' 2007 playoff run.

Their reps have been going on the record saying that they're not split, but our sources -- who know what's really going on -- say the two have cut the cord ... at least for now.

So I don't know who broke it off but I give Tony the credit.

Jessica and her pervert father need to learn that calling all the tabs pretending to be "a source close to the couple" and saying that Jessica is the best thing to ever happen to her new beau and that he wants to marry her will get her dumped every time. As soon as I started reading the same stories about Tony that I'd read about John, almost word for word, I knew Jess and her dad were the sources, and I'm sure Tony did too. And like most normal guys it probably creeped him the fuck out.

This is especially hilarious considering Simpleton is the cover article for the June Glamour and goes into embarrassing detail over how much she lurves Tony. It's pretty ick. I figured when I read it their relationship wasn't long for this world.

I hope he told her "it's not you, it's me" and "I hope we can still be friends." Twist that knife, Tony! T.O. will take you back!
