Default Phil Collins retires from the music industry at age 57

After 30 years in the music industry, singer Phil Collins is finally retiring at age 57.
Collins recently completed a reunion tour with his former band, Genesis.
Friday he announced he will no longer be releasing any more albums or going on tours.
The now retired Collins plans to take a break from music, but will continue to write on his free time.
As for his free time, Collins has said he'll be spending time working on his favorite hobby. What's that?
Collecting memorabilia from the Battle of the Alamo!
    Ohhh, fun!
Collins says, "It's not that unusual for a man of my age who grew up reading [about] Davy Crockett."
Are you devastated by Phil's retirement????

i like phil collins. his music sucks but he's a very nice guy. i think i've mentioned this on the board before but he lived near my family for a few years, in the village we used to live in outside geneva when i was a teenager. he had a normal house in the centre (a beautiful old village home but nothing ostentatious) and he and his then-girlfriend (now ex-wife) were totally normal and we'd run into them often at the baker's or just walking around and they were really nice and discreet, no security, no fancy cars, nothing. and this was a tiny, tiny town where everyone knew each other's business and yet having this huge celebrity move in changed absolutely nothing.

yeah Garth Brooks said that too and how many goodbye tours has Cher done?

I liked old Phil until he dumped his wife via a fax and he said "I'm not that good person people think I am" I filed that under "asshole" and never cared for him since.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Garth HAD to retire (for X amount of years) due to his divorce--keeping his ex- out of getting more of his money. Not that I think that's good (she's a millionaire a zillion times over and had to put up with his shit for years) but I don't believe he chose to retire. I may be mistaken, however.

Also, fuck a bunch of Phil. I loved him back in the drug-addled 80's (Su-su-sudio!) but who the hell cares if he's retired now? I thought he'd retired in the mid 90's...that's how little I care if he retires (again?) now.

I like some of his songs, and others give me a headache. TBH, since he hasn't had a hit in so long, I thought he was already retired.
