Ewan McGregor has revealed he had a skin cancer scare last year.
The 37-year-old, best known for the Star Wars prequels and Trainspotting, said doctors removed several moles after he went for a check-up. One of them, under his right eye, proved to be cancerous.
'I just went to have them checked, you have to be careful if you're pale skinned and you spend time in the sun, with moles. So I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed and indeed he was correct,' he told the BBC today.

McGregor, who is promoting the erotic thriller Deception, insisted the surgery was 'not that big of a deal', and that he was 'fine now'.
It is impossible to say when the mole, which was removed a year ago, became cancerous.
However McGregor recently rode across the sun-scorched deserts of Africa for a TV series The Long Way Down which aired last year.
The Mail revealed last September that McGregor had had moles removed from his face after he appeared at the Venice Film Festival with a markedly clearer complexion.

The star admitted he was aware that having pale skin and spending time in the sun meant he was more at risk, and it 'was best to be looked at' by doctors.
When asked if he found the experience frightening he said, sarcastically: 'It was great fun having skin cancer, it was great, I really enjoyed it.'
The star married French production designer Eve Mavrakis in 1995 and the couple have three daughters.
Deception, which is released in the UK this Friday, sees McGregor play an accountant who becomes the prime suspect in a woman's disappearance and a multi-million dollar heist.
