George Clooney: 'Don't Boycott Olympics'
Hollywood actor George Clooney has called for an end to the global hate campaign against China - insisting plans to boycott the forthcoming Beijing Olympics are "excessive". Actress Mia Farrow has publicly condemned China for its alleged support of genocide in Sudan's Darfur region and director Steven Spielberg stepped down from his position as artistic director for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
However Clooney - a staunch Darfur campaigner - insists boycotting the Games isn't the necessary action to bring peace to the stricken region. He says, ""It seems excessive to boycott the Games because China does business in Darfur. It's always more important to keep a line of communication open."

China isn't interested in communication. They haven't been interested in communication for 60 years. In China's head, either you support China in whatever it does be it genocide or assholery or else you're branded 'evil' by the communist regime.
You're either with China or against China. That's all they see.
If you don't agree with them, then you're just anti-chinese everything.

unfortunately, their economy is so huge they don't have to be interested in communication.

That's exactly it. They're the world's factory, and have everyone by the economic balls.

Shut the fuck up George.
The way China is treating people is 'excessive'. Of course I can't afford to go to games, but I have made a decision not to watch it or not to support any Olympic merchandise.

It's not like Darfur would be the only reason to boycott the Olympics, what goes on in China is pretty much like hell and I find appalling that the Olympics are taking place there.

wtf - what is the point in boycotting the Olympics? what I ask you? we buy everything from China, wanna hurt their feelings stop supporting them financially. Heck our Alaskian crabs are caught by the Chinese and packaged by the Chinese and sold to us. It boggles my mind.
Nimrod Jimmy Carter boycotted the Olympics, so now it's become a political agenda? It's supposed to be games, for the world to compete in, not some political platform.
George Clooney is a twit, I have a mind of my own, I can dislike who I choose and I don't need him to tell me squat. The chump. He's been to Dafur so that makes him a spokesperson? Maybe I don't like China because of Tibet and maybe thats why I don't buy their products.

STFU George, and get off your soapbox. If you want to sway our beliefs, become a fucking politician. But quit using your celeb status to push your own agenda.

I agree with his point of view: boycotting the Games is only going to cause more, bigger problems and destroy all (faint) possibility to communicate.
