Default Gwyneth Paltrow steps out in kinky stilettos to a New York charity event

All eyes were on Gwyneth Paltrow last night as she vamped up her usually prim look at a charity event New York.

The actress stepped out in vertiginous black heels that featured a S&M spin on this season's gladiator style complete with black nail lacquer on her toes.

Gwyneth, who attended the event without her husband Chris Martin, softened the look with a loose-fitting print dress and gently curled tresses.

Once inside, the mother of two rubbed shoulders with her A-list friends, including supermodels Helena Christensen, Christy Turlington and Petra Nemcova as well as REM singer Michael Stripe.

Gwyneth lent her support to the hunger-relief program Food Bank, saying last night: "I grew up in this city, and I worked in soup kitchens throughout high school, so being back here is like a full circle. I'm just thrilled to be here and to help in any way I can. As celebrities, we are given so much and we are very blessed.

"With that comes a real responsibility to give back, share, give money, time and attention to people and causes that need it."

The star has made the most of her time in New York - over the weekend she attended a intimate wedding ceremony for Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow continues to be the subject of rumours her own marriage is in trouble.

Her mother Blythe Danner recently hit back at claims the celebrity pair, who have two children, are on the rocks.

She said: "I've never seen two happier parents and people. Happy, happy people."
Model behaviour: Petra Nemcova and Christy Turlington also lent their support to the charity

The first dress looks like something my aunt would wear.

Love the shoes and hate the dress. I used to love her style, but she's not been as fashionable since she's had kids (understandably).

i do like the shoes but i'd wear them with a better outfit. they don't really go with the flowy dress. the outfit has to be a little more rock or edgy or something.

I don't think the dress really goes with those shoes, but the shoes aren't horrible. She is looking good, I like the shorter hair on her.

christy turlington is pure fug (in that picture) and i really like those shoes except i dont have the legs for it - and neither does Gwyneth.
