As if Jay-Z's week could get any bigger, the hip-hop king is expected to sign a 10-year, $150-million deal with concert promoter Live Nation early next week, the Associated Press reports.
Jay-Z – who applied for a marriage license with Beyoncé Knowles on Tuesday – reportedly will receive $25 million upfront and another $10 million each for at least three studio albums.
"I’ve turned into the Rolling Stones of hip-hop," Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Corey Carter), 38, told The New York Times, in a front-page story Thursday, of the deal – which also includes $25 million for concert tours and $50 million to finance the rapper's other investments.
The news comes four months after Jay-Z left his three-year post as Def Jam president. The rapper isn't the first superstar to sign a ginormous Live Nation contract: U2 inked a reported nine-figure deal last week, following a similar deal with Madonna last year.
