There's no small amount of pain in even a minor kidney infection, I know from experiences. One of the worst pains I've ever had was my dual kidney infection, topped only by my hip pointer with sciatic pain. *shivers at the thought*

I've never heard of being checked into the hospital for a kidney infection.

My Aunty is constantly in and out of hospital with kidney pain. She says it is one of the worst pain she has experience next to childbirth.

yup. It was 6 years after my first infection (both were infected, I saw PacMan I was in so much pain) and it hurt so bad, all I could do was sob on the floor...this was the MINOR one. I was only in for an hour and a half, enough time to dose me up with enough pain killers to ensure I could make it home, antibiotics and anti-inflammitories.

The first ones nearly caused renal failure.

it happened to a friend of mine. she waited to long to treat a urinary infection and it found its way up to her kidneys. she was in hospital for a couple of days, massive doses of antibiotics, etc... not fun. i hate messica but i wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Is a kidney infection ever "minor"? Seems to me that having one automatically puts you in the serious category.

^ don't be! My own damned fault for not calling the doctor earlier, I was 13 and thought I'd "be fine."

^No worries, I'm SO over it. I know now to add cranberry juice to my diet, and to not add any bubbles/saop to my bath water, wipe front to back, limit my use of underwear to cotton (harder for bacteria to breed on it), etc, etc, etc.

Seriously though, if I ever have a daughter, she is learning all of this stuff at an early age!!
