Default Oprah Winfrey's Cocker Spaniel dies

    Oprah Winfrey's Cocker Spaniel Dies
    Monday March 24, 2008

Oprah Winfrey arrives with dog Sophie at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. on June 29, 2000.

Oprah Winfrey's 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel, Sophie, has passed away of kidney failure.
"Everyone here is really sad," a source at her Harpo production company told Celebrity Dog Watcher. "Sophie was truly part of the Harpo family as well as Oprah's."
In the December issue of O, Winfrey wrote about Sophie's condition, saying that she and beau Stedman Graham were "preparing for the inevitable."
The two have another Cocker Spaniel, Solomon.
Less than a year ago, they lost their beloved Golden Retriever, Gracie, who chocked on a ball.
Gracie "did more living in two years than most dogs do in 12," Winfrey wrote of the dog's death last year. "This dog lived every moment as though it were her last.
"Her life was a gift to me," she added. "Her death, a greater one."

I'm glad that dear dog doesn't have to suffer the presence of its owner anymore. Dear Sophie, R.I.P.

My cat has kidney failure. I'm deading the day she passes from it.

I feel for Oprah. Losing a pet is like losing part of your family.

It's a sad day when the death of Oprah's pets are considered news.
(it sucks when a pet dies though)
My goal is to be happy with my life.

Ok, maybe this isn't exactly "news" but for anyone who's loved and lost a pet, I'm sure they can relate. I know I can.

I'm an animal lover, and I know how tragic it is to lose a beloved family member. But it isn't necessary to send out a news bulletin when a celeb's pet dies. It's a bit self-important, imo.

I'm so sorry. Happened to my cat Honestly it's so painful for them, I put my gorgeous girl to sleep after 17 years.

I cried when I read what happened to her other dog who choked on a ball... so sad

I think that Oprah talks about her dogs a lot, so people that love Oprah are interested. It is always sad to lose a pet. Very sad.

I've lost one cat to CRF and I have another that is 17 and in the early stages of it.
